I got to look up what a labrum is

Tim the PT guy thinks I've damaged my labrum. He's not sure if it's just inflamed or if I've torn it. After a week of my current, revised exercises he'll check in and depending how things are progressing, he'll recommend me for an MRI to see if it's actually torn. Please gods don't let it be torn.

In the meantime, I'm supposed to take it easy to get the worst of the inflammation down. No more banded distraction stretches, and for a couple days not much walking/hip socket movement. I'm not even supposed to stand too much. Also a new movement that will (hopefully) train my glutes to fire better because apparently my quads are still doing, like, 90% of the work on all my lower body movements. For such a large ass, it sure is lazy.

I have an additional exercise for my right SI joint that is basically me lying down in a specific configuration on pillows for fifteen minutes two to three times a day. That's nice!

My weekend plans to start the altered Furiosa portrait are canceled, now, because I do my collage art while standing at my cutting table. Hmph. Unless someone has a cushy, comfy bar stool I could borrow....

Oh, man. I hope it is not so complex. Erk. Eldest daughter learned she has some skeletal differences inher hips, such that the structure of the labrum is smaller on the right thank the left. It is also interesting to see her *wrap* the hip when it bugs her.

And then you started talking about your ass and my brains went YUM so I didn't follow so well after that.

:(
OW. i hope it's not torn.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-06-19 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
ME, TOO. I mean, I don't have much hope that it's not, because I just don't have that kind of luck? But there's always a chance.

[identity profile] msmitti.livejournal.com 2015-06-19 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
eek. hoping it isn't torn.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-06-19 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
*sigh*

Yeah.

[identity profile] sherwood21.livejournal.com 2015-06-19 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
AUGH. Torn or just inflamed, that's still uncomfortable and sucky to deal with. I'm keeping my fingers crossed too that it's just the latter.

I do actually possess a pair of barstools with a cushy padded seat. You are more than welcome to check them out and borrow one or both of them.

I'm side eyeing your butt and telling it to get with the program.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-06-19 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

I'm hennaing my hair tomorrow morning, but maybe if you're around Saturday afternoon I could text you and come pick one up?

[identity profile] sherwood21.livejournal.com 2015-06-19 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
If we can do it between 4:00 and 5:30, yes. (I work that night, hence the oddly specific window of time.)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-06-19 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool, yeah, no problem! Or if you're around between 4:00 and 5:30 today, I could do that, too. That actually would work better for me.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-06-19 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
SERIOUSLY. I mean, I don't mind it being big but it's gotta (literally) pull its own weight.

[identity profile] sherwood21.livejournal.com 2015-06-19 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Absolutely! Just text or call me when you leave?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-06-19 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure! Actually, I'll call you with the height measurement as soon as I get home because no point in my bringing it home if it's too tall to fit under the table.

[identity profile] sherwood21.livejournal.com 2015-06-19 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Good point! I just went and measured it - it is approximately 25" high. (23" base, 2" cushion)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-06-19 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool. I'll measure the height to the bottom of the table and text you as soon as I get home.

[identity profile] 1-rhiannon-1.livejournal.com 2015-06-19 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG I really hope that it's not torn!! *fingers crossed*

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-06-19 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks, bb! Here's hoping!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-06-19 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Dang. It's actually too short. I'd need something 30" to 34" high. Apparently my cutting table is higher than I thought!

[identity profile] saffronhare.livejournal.com 2015-06-19 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Was finally able to see that...very compelling.

MRIs are pricey, but they can provide valuable information and make a big difference in the treatment/rehab plan.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2015-06-20 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok, that whole page at the labrum made me cringe horribly, however now I know what that weird click/catch is that I sometimes get in my hip joint. thankyou? I sure as hell hope yours isn't torn.
I wonder if your misfiring glutes have to do with the tilt you have? Unfortunately, all the glute activation movements Alex has me do (bridges, heel touches, side-stepping with a band, etc) would probably irritate that labrum *sigh*

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2015-06-20 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a wooden stool that's about 30" if you have a plush cushion?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-06-20 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a stool like that, too, but I have to use my feet too much to stay balanced on it. #bigbuttgirlproblems

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-06-20 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, you should see these wimpy little movements I'm doing to help get my glutes to wake up. =D

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2015-06-20 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Well rats.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2015-06-20 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
How about the ole Suhaila butt workout? poppop!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-06-20 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
They turn on fine when isolated. It's compound movements where they should be driving the movement, but aren't. Basically, my glutes do fine when they're asked to work alone, but are lazy jerks when it comes to group projects.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2015-06-21 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
It's because those gorgeous thighs of yours are just too bossy for them. :)
