It was bound to happen eventually. I'm one of the users who's been locked out of desktop access on Twitter. I uninstalled it on my phone and won't be reinstalling it so ... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not feeling great about losing that social connection. People shit on Twitter a lot but I valued its use and the connections I had there.

If you sent me a DM in the last 24 hours it’s a safe bet I won’t be responding to it, sorry.

If someone who does still have access would post a note that says I'm out of the game unless a miracle occurs (unlikely considering the state of the company)? I had a couple DMs going with people and I don't want them to think I ghosted them.

Oh nooooooo, that's so frustrating!! Having your connection to people severed by one (1) asshole billionaire who could just have NOT fucked the site up for everyone... that really sucks. I will miss you on there so much. Definitely gives me a reason to rethink giving up on Dreamwidth... (The lack of mute function on here is Very Bad for my peace of mind.)

I don't think it was like they went through and revoked access account by account, but a lot (maybe all?) of desktop users lost access last night.

I'm so sad. I didn't need to be even more isolated. This would be my catalyst to start exploring Mastodon but my limited energy and focus are going to things like Functioning and Finding Income. 😩

Unfortunately I don't have the capacity to think that hard right now. Anything new or requiring more than ten minutes of focus must relate to either making money (my savings is running out fast) or basic existence (body maintenance).

You can be clevermanka @ another instance! I think you were on one of the big ones that don't have great moderation, so one of the fandom servers would probably suit you better. (Everyone I know from Twitter is on a small instance for that reason.)

ETA: I checked, and there doesn't seem to be a Clevermanka anywhere else, so you can have your username @ fandom.ink, @ blorbo.social, @ federatedfandom.net or literally anywhere that isn't @ mastodon.social.

This may be a not-intelligent suggestion on my part, but have you checked again this morning? "Twitter down" was trending last night and lots of people were having problems. I have desktop access as of this morning but I don't know if we share any followers (I'm a nobody over there because I rarely interact -- I only keep twitter for my local weather forecasters). Sorry that happened to you regardless. :(

Skuld is on federatedfandom.net and likes it, and that's where Asya is too. Kimboo, BlueMeridian & Lunarriviera are on fandom.ink. So there's lots of options - it's kind of like picking an email provider? Except it's much easier to switch if you find somewhere you like better. And you can follow people from other instances without any problem at all! (The only exception is if an instance is full of trolls or terfs or crypto bros or something - then mods might just ban anyone coming from those servers.)

I'm actually on wandering.shop, which is full of SFF people, because I got an invite from Ysa. I rather like it - if you'd be interested I can get you an invite the next time they have some up for grabs!

Randomly...if someone were to make a screenshot guide to Mastodon, would you prefer it in dark mode or not? :D

I'm much more fandom-oriented than SFF since I read hardly any original fiction these days so I'll look into one of the others.

Hahahah yeah I am very "...well, this is kind of weird" about being on an SFF server since I am not active there at all, but I do like seeing the authors in my local feed? And then sometimes I'll get a notification like "Harry Turtledove liked this post of Meenie" which is delightfully surreal.

But mainly I feel so bad about my lack of fandom right now that I don't think I could handle a fandom server. ^^;; If the fannish feels ever happen again I'll consider switching though!

I so much wish I could wave a magic wand to help ease/erase the unhappy lack of fandom feelings for you. That must be so hard. The only thing that diminishes my fandom feels is canon betrayal or, in the case of due South, feeling too icky about cop shows in general. So I can't even imagine. ooof. Hugs hugs hugs hugs.
