Spring Break Monday
KU's campus is nearly silent. The office is deserted except for me and one other secretary. My office mate does not return until tomorrow. Bliss.
I'm listening to internet radio again today and a song came on that I haven't even thought about in ages, from Yaz's Upstairs at Eric's. Anyone else remember this album? I don't remember much except for the song that was on the radio, "Only You." Alison Moyet had such a gorgeous voice.
Saturday we went to see the Kansas City Roller Warriors roller derby. It was the first game of the season, of the first season, and you can tell the girls are still getting their sea legs, so to speak. Frankly, I was a little surprised at how polite they were. Not nearly as aggressive as I'd assumed. I wonder if that will change as they get more comfortable with the idea. I think a larger rink would make a difference, too. The skating area was pretty small and didn't allow for them to get a good amount of speed going before the turns. I'll probably go again, though. It'll be fun to see them improve. I wish the scary joke drag queens would go away, though.
I hung the curtains on the bed and did some serious work on the canopy this weekend. The center square is finished (shisha mirrors and sequins) and I sequinned two medium squares and probably ...oh, a dozen? small squares. It's going to be gorgeous. I'm going to sell tickets for people to come over and just look at my bed when it's done.

You thought...

At least...
Hey, Lydia, so the squares are for your canopy? Does the prettiness face the person lying on the bed?
Also, you got a poodle skirt pattern?

Re: At least...
Yes, I have a circle/poodle skirt pattern. I can bring it (if I can find it) Saturday if you need one.

Ah, I do fondly remember working in ACS during spring break. Now spring break only makes me look forward to getting away on a lengthy vacation.
I'm having interesting visuals of the bed, I saw a picture last week of a round, circular bed that I really liked. I'm wondering if I could build round edges to add on to our current king-sized bed. Hmmmmmmmm.

Yeah, I don't know what I'm thinking anyway, our current bed is waterbed.
