We're halfway through Spring Break already?

Good:
  • My boots to replace the ones that broke are finally in and I'm wearing them today.
  • It stopped snowing early yesterday evening and nothing stuck to the ground.
  • Dance class last night went really well.

    Bad:
  • I still haven't done my Kansas taxes.
  • My office is (still) freezing.
  • Allergies are bad today.

    Ugly:
  • I'm up four pounds since Sunday. WTF?
  • My knees are spectacularly bruised from repeatedly practicing a floor pose last night.
  • I found a spider in the bathroom this morning.

I was tickled by how many people on my friends list had the same reaction as me to yesterday's weather. Entry after entry going What The?

And a milestone in class last night: I'm one of two front-pose dancers in a bharatnatyam inspired dance that we're doing for the summer show. We needed a floor pose, and we're doing one loosely based on Royal Pigeon Pose. We're not touching our feet to our heads, though, just wrapping the opposite arm back and grabbing the ankle. For those who've seen me dance, it's nearly identical to the pose I do with the sword on my head where I put one leg in front, bend my other leg back, and grab my foot. OK, anyway, moving on...we were playing with all these poses for the opening of the song and Karen (the other bendy girl) and I were doing stretches to stay warm while Cynthia worked with the other girls. And guess what? Without even trying, I managed to get full Bhujangasana and touched my feet to my head. Go, me.

Grats on being more flexible that you thought!

(as for the rest, well, those just ARE, what can be said, eh? ;p)

I'm up four pounds since Sunday. WTF?

    btw--I have you beat ;)

That used to happen to me--about 5 - 10 lbs every 28 days. Water retention. Blech.

My unasked for opinion is a weight gain of 4lbs in three days should not be in the ugly category. Weigh yourself only once a week at the same time of day and track that weight over the long run. Weight can fluctuate day by day, so becoming concerned over frequent weight changes won't do you any good. Look at how your weight is every week or every month. That will give you a much better picture on whether you are maintaining a healty weight.

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-03-23 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Mostly I was just tracking to see what eating out two days in a row would do to me. Now I know. I think that monthly thing might be an issue, too, come to think of it...er, checking calendar, nope. Gotta be the double-whammy of India Palace and Zen Zero for lunch on consecutive days.

    [identity profile] solan-t.livejournal.com 2005-03-23 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, it's more fun for me to weigh at the same time every day (morning even before I dress) and just keep in mind some weight gain and loss is transitory. If I was smart, I would start graphing it. That should be entertaining.

    [identity profile] solan-t.livejournal.com 2005-03-23 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Too much salt, mostly. That will increase water retention. Then there is the bulk of food still in the system, too.

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-03-23 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup. Lotsa salt and carbs those days. And I ate like a freaking pig, of course. Let's see if I can get that water flushed by Thursday. *crosses fingers*

    [identity profile] stuology.livejournal.com 2005-03-23 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
fitday.com (http://fitday.com) has tools to do that for free. I thought about doing mine, but I'm not sure if they can graph exponential curves.

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-03-23 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I use fitday and no, they don't chart your weight progress. It just shows where you are now.

    [identity profile] stuology.livejournal.com 2005-03-23 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes they do. Go to Reports and then look at "How has my weight changed over time?"

    perhaps this?

    [identity profile] solan-t.livejournal.com 2005-03-23 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
    http://www.weightcommander.com/dot.html

I have not used it, but it seems to graph weight over time.

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-03-23 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! Huh. Learn something new every day.

    [identity profile] solan-t.livejournal.com 2005-03-23 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
But I was just going to use paper or Excel.

    [identity profile] rougewench.livejournal.com 2005-03-23 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Go you. I agree on the salt thing...you gotta be careful on that intake because water retention will kill you (when trying to look good in revealing costuming).

    Ooooo ... moving averages!

I could just use SPSS and product SARIMA models so I can make predictions. Maybe I'd spend way too much time being way too geeky that I'd forget to eat and lose more.

I anticipate you'll drop probably at least ten pounds come May...no sense worrying about it until then. =D

Love the boots! Much drooling from my direction. Makes me wish I wasn't a responsible adult who pays her bills. I haven't had a really nice pair of boots since I decided to wear mine hiking in South Africa. They made huge blisters on my heels and [livejournal.com profile] femefataletron (T) had to cut the back off so I could finish. I'll have to show the photo sometime.

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-03-23 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. Wow. Major Suxxor. Did he use a machete? That would have been really exciting.

I love these boots. Very comfy. I broke in my first pair at Chess Match rehearsals. Not one blister. Wore them all over New Orleans, too.

A [livejournal.com profile] kalinobeche without proper combat boots! This cannot stand!

    Hmmmm...

(hint: I usually wear a size 10, but bought these in a 9.5).

Boo. Cannot go to see dancers at Aladdin Cafe tomorrow since I previously committed to go to the Rep with a friend and then promptly forgot. SuxxOr.

    Hey,
I saw your post in [livejournal.com profile] bellydancing and I was wondering where you take lessons?

    Thanks!
    Rayana

Oh, too bad!!! Keep your eyes peeled for future gigs. We usually dance about every 4-6 weeks.

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-03-24 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I take lessons from Joanne Zingo Hargis through Parks and Rec. I'm also going to start taking private lessons through Jemira Ali as soon as I can get my shit together. Hopefully, soon. =)
