20 concerts meme

From [livejournal.com profile] roguewench, [livejournal.com profile] mesniu, [livejournal.com profile] green_tara76 and [livejournal.com profile] writewench. I pulled all their answers together and then added mine to make 20.

20 bands that I've seen live:
  • Reply to this message telling me which of these 20 artists you have also seen.
  • Take the ones from my list that you have seen, and post them in your own LJ.
  • Add more until you have 20.

    On their lists:
    1. Rolling Stones
    2. Peter Gabriel
    3. The Cramps
    7. David Bowie
    4. Pink Floyd
    5. Nine Inch Nails
    6. The Stray Cats
    7. They Might Be Giants
    8. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
    9. No Doubt
    10. Beastie Boys
    11. Reverend Horton Heat
    I've added:

    14. Indigo Girls
    15. R.E.M.
    16. Junior Brown
    17. Hank Williams III
    18. Tool
    19. BR549
    20. Southern Culture on the Skids

I'm not even going to try to list all the rockabilly acts I've seen.

I've also seen TMBG, the Reverend, Huey Lewis & the News (I was a camera op for that one) and the Indigo Girls. Really jealous over the Stray Cats and Hank Williams III, though. I love that album of his, is it "Lonesome, Broke & Driftin"?

I too have seen Southern Culture on the Skids (3 days after I last saw Link Wray). I lumped them in with the various acts I've seen in clubs, rather than shows I've seen in varying sizes of arenas.

I don't have his second one, just Risin' Outlaw which has one of the best covers of Cocaine Blues I've ever heard.

The Stray Cats were amazing. It was for the Carl Perkins Memorial Fund reunion show that they did back in...oh, 1998? I flew out to LA for it. It was at the LA House of Blues. Incredible.

Sounds like a great time...if I'm not mistaken, Hank III is in some metal band now? This is a job for Google.

Gah! I forgot Bowie! Went to both Dallas dates of the Glass Spider tour. (I so loved the first one that I bought scalper tix for the follow up.)

    6. The Stray Cats
    7. They Might Be Giants
    10. Beastie Boys
    11. Reverend Horton Heat
    15. R.E.M.
    16. Junior Brown
    19. BR549
    20. Southern Culture on the Skids

Hmm..I could easily get more than 20 when adding mine.

    I've seen:
    3. The Cramps
    7. David Bowie
    5. Nine Inch Nails (opening for Peter Murphy 'way back in the day' - very weird show)
    6. The Stray Cats
    14. Indigo Girls (at lilith fair - I didn't really go to see them)
    15. R.E.M.
    16. Junior Brown
    20. Southern Culture on the Skids - more times than I can count. They're a local band and always a good time :)

I have a limited concert experience...

and am sad to say I've not seen any of the above. But here's my pitiful short list...please don't laugh at me [particulary the first part]...
Loretta Lynn, the Beach Boys, Sean Cassidy (you know, Da-Doo-Run-Run-Run?), Rick Springfield, Bob Dylan (x2), Santana, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Third World, BB King, Buddy Guy (x3), Eric Johnson, Cher, and Michael Crawford.

I've seen some killer bluegrass groups too. :)

I've also seen Bowie (as an opening act, of all things), REM, Gabriel, and TMBG.

The Huey Lewis cracks me up. He was sort of the Hootie of his generation, wasn't he?

Even better, I saw Huey Lewis with my mom. =D

    Yeah, yeah, rub it in.

Huey Lewis was pure early 80s MTV. Pre-Hootie by a longshot.

I'm a newbie at LJ, but I'm a friend of Rowan's. Mind if I lift your meme?

I'm afraid our lists won't cross much...

I don't mind at all! Have fun!

My overlap with you consists of TMBG, NIN, and Horton Heat. I'm going to have to work at it to stretch my list out to 20 (that I'm wiiling to admit, anyway).

I'm not a huge fan of Primus, but damn I bet they put on a hell of a good show.
