Off for the weekend (edit: Maybe)

Leaving this afternoon for the Cassandra workshop in St. Louis this weekend. Bleh. I really don't feel like going. At all. I have waaaaaay too much on my plate without being away for two days. Suxxor. Plus, I'm out of town next weekend for Mommy's graduation, and no way I would or could back out of that. But I loathe being out of town two weekends in a row. Especially when I'm up to my ears in other crap.

AAAAGH! Yet another item that makes me not want to go to STL just popped into my office. One of my all time favorite grad students is in town (from Minnesota) to defend today and told me she's having a big party tonight. It's probably the last time she'll ever be in Lawrence and she's only staying for the weekend. God damn it. I don't know ...oh fantastic. She just came back in the office with a present for me for helping her (you know, doing my job). This absolutely gorgeous art book. Oh man.

I'm so tempted to take Jo the $50 for the workshop registration and say "Here, use this to pay for my spot in the class if it means you won't get the discount rate. If you don't need it for that, use it to pay for gas or hotel costs. Whatever." I just Don't. Want. To. Go.

Advice? Opinions?

EDIT: Just found out that an old friend is in from out of town at [livejournal.com profile] kristinb615's place. Sheesh. I'm thinking all I need's a lightning strike to tell me to stay home.
ALSO EDIT: And if I stayed in town this weekend, I could make one more batch of brownies for [livejournal.com profile] stuology before Ada arrives...
AND ANOTHER EDIT: You know, here I was badmouthing Brezsny's horoscope for me this week and now I find it creepily accurate.

2. Sneakers: Chuck Taylor All-Stars.
3. Hair care: Aveda.
4. Small electronics: Don't have a favorite, but I've probably purchased more Sony stuff than anything else over the years.

1. Are you prone to fits of depression? I used to get what my mom called "the blue fugues" but I haven't had any for a long time now.
2. What triggers them? I really think the messed up thyroid caused a lot of it. I haven't even had to take Wellbutrin for my SAD since I've been on the Levoxyl.
3. What is your favorite way of 'self-medicating'? Dolly Madison Powdered Sugar Gem Donuts.
4. When was your "darkest" period - a time in your life when you had more fits of depression than before or since? The three or four years leading up to being diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I'd get the blue fugues every couple months or so.
5. What has changed since then? A doctor who listened to me, Levoxyl, and life circumstances.
