Thrill a minute

Sellout was...ok. It certainly isn't as good as it used to be. Huge turnover in band members has not been kind to them. They don't have the energy (or visual appeal) that they used to, but it was still a good time. Flessing was fantastic as Chuck Norris singing "Whole Lotta Love." I had no idea he could wail like that. Wow! He was in the third set, though, and by that time I was really ready to go home. Skipped out of there way fast and probably didn't say bye to everyone I should have.

Saturday was a day of much productivity. Finished two vests and a belt and cut and sewed (but didn't hem) one circle skirt. Made cookies. Took (most of) them to a friend. Lounged about.

Sunday I went to a cooking class that was incredibly fun (I learned to make chapatis!) and then dance rehearsal for the Devadasi performance on Saturday. YIKES.

I finally made a commitment with my friend Jemira for some private bellydance lessons, specifically focusing on circular veil. I'm hoping to use that for my solo in the summer show. We'll see! Jo already has a huge veil group number and I think another standard veil piece in the show would be superfluous and boring. And the music really cries out for veil, so I'm hoping I can figure out this circular thing in...two months? *cough*

In fifteen minutes: haircut. I should get going.

Where was cooking class thru? I know Pooch enjoys cooking classes so I like to know who has them

It was promoted through my yoga teacher (http://www.bhaktivanayoga.com/). Her neighbors hosted it. They only do it a couple times a year. I'll warn you, though, they're Hare Krishnas and they ask that class participants join them in a short chant session before eating. Don't know how Pooch's Catholic sensibilities would feel about that. I love chanting, so I thought it was great, but I know not everyone is comfortable with it.

I'll show you how! You need a gas range, though.

No, Galdriel isn't doing my hair anymore, alas. She was so hard to get ahold of and she never returned my last attempt to schedule an appointment. I've been going to this little chick who cuts hair up at the KU Union. She's really sweet and does a good job. Granted, I have a pretty easy haircut. And I certainly don't mind paying *half* of what I used to. Not to mention getting to avoid leaving campus in the middle of the day.

The one with all the nifty blonde fairy-tale princess hair? I wonder every time I walk past if it's real or extensions. :)

Mmmmm....veils...

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2006-05-08 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm. Different girl, I think. This one's hair is pretty short, with that two-tone dark on the bottom half of her head, blonde on top thing.

And spins. Wish me luck.

Yeah, Sellout is now off (the rest of the way) my list for 'let's go dancing'. Flessing was great at belting it out! When the guests overshadow the band, the band needs more help.

Must try the Hot lunch soon.
Thursday is my last day of classes, maybe I'll go this week and vent my brain-steam after thursday's big exam.

oooh, Chapati demo please!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2006-05-08 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Bummer! I was wondering where you were...

My first class with Jemira is Thursday (that means no gym for me that day). Just FYI. Re: chapatis, do you have a gas range?

So we are on for the gym Tues., and Wed.?

Yes! I'm Cooking With Gas!

And Friday.

I didn't go to Sellout this weekend precisely because they've been falling off their game for a while. Really, from last fall.

Well, that and I didn't want to deal with the drunken idiot drivers on Cinco de Mayo.

I had never seen Sellout before, so I don't know if they have fallen. But I saw them on Saturday--too bad we weren't there the same night! But, I thought they were fun. I even wore my disco pants.

Yeah for Flessing! That would have been worth seeing regardless of how the rest of the show turned out. Wish I had me a pair of the magic red shoes.
