My own Friday Five
First: Two lovely women I know have birthdays today:
alt_rorschach and
motherteresatoo. I hope you have wonderful birthdays! I'm sorry I didn't get cards out. I'm a loser.
Second:
Dear MoveOn blogger,
The House of Representatives will soon vote on whether or not to preserve Internet freedom—and our fight to protect Network Neutrality is gaining huge momentum.
The SavetheInternet.com Coalition now has 524 member organizations, 637,386 petition signatures to Congress, 3,251 blog links, and 5,634 MySpace friends. We will only win this fight if the public is mobilized, Congress is bombarded from all angles, and word spreads around the Internet like prairie fire.
Here are some resources to help you blog today about the current threat to Internet freedom:
MoveOn's blogger resource page is full of facts and links to help you inform people about Net Neutrality: http://www.moveon.org/r?r=1771&id=7594-5933747-5saWBM_3mINem3lOqcGi5w&t=3
MoveOn member Mari Fetzer designed a FANTASTIC image with links to 5 things people can do today to preserve Internet freedom. The coding is available at the bottom of: http://www.moveon.org/r?r=1769
Several fun videos are now on the SavetheInternet.com Coalition website, including a great Halo mimick on Net Neutrality: http://www.moveon.org/r?r=1770
Comedy site "Ask A Ninja" has a unique perspective on Net Neutrality: http://www.moveon.org/r?r=1768
Third: My first bellydance lesson with Jemira last night was fantabulous. I think I'm going to continue taking lessons with her, even after we work out this circle-veil thing for the summer show. She's so awesome. Funny how you can know someone for over a decade and then have to be reminded of their coolness factor.
Fourth: Warning! Possible TMI!
I'm pretty sure I have Candida. Yesterday I ate some bread (which I don't do very often--it's just not something I include in my diet on a regular basis) and boy howdy did I regret it, almost instantly. So I went "hm" and did a search on yeast/gluten intolerance. When I found the page on Candida I thought I'd found a likely culprit. I went to a dozen or so more sites, and all lead me to think I was on the right track. This morning I did the saliva test and yes, most definitely, my saliva did the droopy "stringy" thing after ten minutes. After twenty, it had settled to the middle of the glass and looked like floating specks of dust. Bleh. Also, here are my symptoms that correspond with many of the common complaints listed on the different websites:
Constant fatigue
Abdominal pain
Bloating and indigestion
Joint pain with arthritis-like symptoms
Chronic sinus drainage
Brain "fog"
Fungus on the finger or toe-nails (one toenail looks rather suspicious)
Itching, red eyes
Skin rashes anywhere on the body (I'm breaking out on my chest of all places)
Sore throat
Headaches
Sensitivity to heat/cold
Low body temperature
Sensitivity to strong smells such as tobacco (!)
Dizziness/vertigo
adammaker, bless him, suggested a supplement that is a little cheaper than the ThreeLac stuff recommended on the website. So I'm going to order some of that today.
Fifth: I'm pleased that it's Friday, but my weekend won't really start until Sunday. Bleh. Not really looking forward to the performance and all-day stint in KC tomorrow. My slight but lingering resentment over the (minimal!) time I've invested into this tells me I absolutely made the correct decision when I dropped out of the local dance troupe.

Would you be willing to update here, or in email as to your progress with this?
Thanks,
Connie

I'm sorry to hear you've suffered through this for years. That stinks. Since my case seems relatively minor, I'm going with the Synthol stuff. However, for something like yours, you might be better off with the ThreeLac system. It seems to be geared towards people for whom yeast is a constant battle.

Can you get a diagnosis of Candida before you take the meds? I'm a big fan of self-diagnosis, sure, but not such a big fan of swallowing pills in the hopes that they do something.
Surely, there are tests you can take to confirm your diagnosis...?

Besides the saliva test?
There's nothing in the Syntol that is bad for a person, even if there is no excess yeast present. Pity

One thing I didn't see was a recommended dosing, would it be a daily suppliment?

The Syntol helps the good drive out the bad through sheer numeracy.

Sure, there are other details, but that is the main idea.
Daily!

Hope the meds work - that would be wonderful to figure it out.
