Crush
There are two profs in our department who have the most amazingly beautiful children in the world, and one of them (the son) has a crush on me.
I love it.
He's about, oh, three (?) and is absolutely darling. Personable, friendly, and doesn't use baby-talk (I strongly suspect the influence of English Professor Parents here).
Yesterday, as I was leaving the theater (X-Men. Good.), I saw him, his sister, and his mom in the lobby. He was crying. I walked over and asked what was wrong. Their movie was sold out.
"Oh, that's too bad, G---, that really stinks."
*sniffle* "Uh-huh."
"So what are you going to do instead?"
*looks at Mom* "I don't know."
"Well, I'm sure you all will find something else fun to do and the rest of your day will be better."
At this point Mom laughed and said "Oh, I'm sure now that he's seen you, the rest of the day will be just fine."
This morning, I heard them coming down the hall. I looked in the doorway, and he stood and smiled at me, that cute kid shy smile/look away/look back thing.
Mom said, "We came in the building and he asked if we could come see you before we went to my office. When I said yes, he yelled out 'YAAAAAAAAAY!'"
The prettiest little boy in the world has a crush on me and I think that's absolutely charming.
