Damn kids, and other things

Another one of my international students came by yesterday to say goodbye. Or, in her case, Auf Wiedersehen. She brought me a bottle of something called Apéritif à la Truffe. At first I misread it as "Truffle Oil" because ok, ok, I was freaking tearing up and I couldn't read the damn label. But when I got back to my desk (and a tissue), I saw it wasn't truffle oil at all and now I'm not sure what I have here. It's a sweet liquor, I believe (I can tell that much from the ingredients), but I'm not sure how best to drink or serve it.

Google wasn't much help, frankly. Francophiles, any assistance please?

Former Troupe Leader (FTL from now on) sent out the program for the show. OK, first: She didn't tell me that I could name my piece. She didn't even ask if I wanted to name it. Second: What did she decide to name my piece? "That Bond Woman." That Bond Woman? What the fuck does that even mean? I fired off an email and a phone call to her saying if she wanted to title the piece I wanted it to be either the standard "Bond Girl" term or "Shaken and Stirred," which I think is pretty damn clever. But we'll see if she actually gets it changed. That Bond Woman. What the hell? Done. Have I mentioned done?

the machine translator says:

Aperitif with truffle

This original aperitif is composed of black truffle juice (the famous one to tube mélanosporum) and from white grape juices transferred to brandy, a flavour comes to supplement balance. You will be able to taste it very fresh out of aperitif on toasts of foie gras or in kitchen to thaw your sauces and plates to be rotir or quite simply in an omelette. But to taste it with good chocolate truffles leaves a greedy memory!

So Truffle Brandy, used as a counterpoint for foods overall, but reccomended to be sipped while eating chocolate truffles?

Fantastic gift, in any case.

See you at the show!

Cool thanks. Hey, I've been wondering what to do with that ol' foie gras I've had in my deli drawer. *eyeroll*

Chocolate truffles sound better anyway. Maybe as a reward for making it through this year's run of faire...

The prorgam should read "That DARN Bond Woman!"

Apéritifs are to be drank before a meal as an apetizer. Drink it cold but without ice--chill the liquor and the glass.

Or "I never had sex with that Bond Woman." eyeroll That's the first thing *I* thought of.

mmm, spare Fois Gras!

I felt like the the machine translator should have said,

"To be eaten with the Fancy!!!!
Many Yums with each sip of palate!"

*giggling*

Thanks! I wouldn't have thought about the chilled part.

Do chocolate truffles count as a meal? I think they do. Or, at least, should.

"Darn, Now I'll never have sex with that BOND woman."

There goes that Bond woman again...

I find that a little *too* funny. I like your meez shoes, btw...

Thanks! You know, I own a pair of leopard print flats in real life. Actually, I think I own most of that ensemble, only my half-tees have things like "Big Sandy and the Fly-Rite Boys" on them instead of cherries.

So they got here before me, but yes, pre- or post-dinner sippin' liquor.

Which day would be best to come to your show? And does one just buy the ticket there at the door?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2006-07-21 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
It's always a toss up which day is better. Never can say ahead of time. And sure! You can get your ticket at the door.
