Friday Five
1. What was your first Halloween costume?
I was an angel. Awwww. My mom made the whole costume, including the wings.
2. What was your best costume and why?
Toughie. I *love* costumes and I pour inordinate amounts of time into them. Probably the best one I made for me was a wood nymph costume. I found one of those old skirts out of tee shirt material with multiple layers that had been cut so the fabric curled in on itself. You 80s girls will know what I mean. Pulled that up over my chest and put an old tea-stained and ripped tee shirt over the top, cinched it all with a slim rope. On my legs and arms I put on nude hose, then darker hose that I cut up so my limbs looked like bark. I had super long hair then and I braided it the night before, then frizzed it and sewed leaves into it.
3. Did you ever play a trick on someone who didn't give you a treat?
No, never. That's mean.
4. Do you have any Halloween traditions? (ie: Family pumpkin carving, special dinner before trick or treating, etc.
Used to, but not anymore. I still dress up for work, though!
5. Share your favorite scary story...real or legend!
I was in the woods once with a friend and we both saw these big dogs running towards us. We turned and ran. Afterwards, he said he saw rottweilers and I'd seen gray hunting dogs, like pointers. The third friend who was with us hadn't seen a thing. Ghost dogs. Doesn't sound scary when I tell it, but I still get shivers thinking about it.
