Of note

I hate the moment of realization when one realizes just how much a certain task is going to suck.

sigh

Right now, I'm not enjoying my job so much.

I don't suppose you are referring to a certain thing that *I* have to do, too? Because that happened for me this morning when I was going over part of it with the person who's going to "help" me (who's NOT in China).

Yes. Yes I am.

*weeps*

Poor baby. The beauty of your job however, far outshines the task. You are magnificent!

Aw, thanks! I just had two more grad students tell me I'm fabulous. It helps. It really does. And I'm nearly done with the wretched task, so hurray!

I don't know what particular part of your job has reached that stage, but for me, it was this morning with the realization that it's time to enter grades into the POS software known around here as GradeBook.

It has its own way of calculating grades, and mine are quite subjective as it is (music performance classes), so we end up arguing about why it gave so-and-so a B+, when I think it should have been an A-. And, of course, arguing with a computer system is almost always a futile task.

Have I ever mentioned that my least favorite part of public school teaching is grades?

They're done for the moment, thank (insert deity of your choice here).

Yuck. I've heard Not Great Things about GradeBook. My condolences.

Add an undergrad voice to the "you're fabulous" column. And hey, be thankful none are saying "your fabulous."

Thank you. And indeed. I think that would require expulsion from the department.
