Blouse
I didn't finish the blouse I mentioned the other day. I didn't even start it. I forgot I'd purchased the pattern to make in a knit, which means I bought the pattern a size smaller than normal. Since I am currently not smaller than normal, making that size in a non-knit would be pointless.
Instead, I made a wrap-top pattern that I've had for years--long enough for the pattern to go out of print, so no link. Sorry. I used a cream cotton with gray squiggly background and yellow and orange insects dotted about. I finished altering the sleeves (way too long) and topstitched the edges last night. It's a charming blouse and doesn't gape nearly as badly as I feared. I'm still going to add a snap at the neckline, though. Next time I make it (in a leopard print, of course) I will increase the width of the back darts to nip it in a bit more, alter the sleeves into 3/4 sleeves, and make a contrasting black collar and cuffs--maybe with matching leopard fabric-covered buttons at the cuffs.
Paired with some cropped cigarette-pants and heels, you'd never know this wasn't a vintage pattern. Pictures next week if I can wrangle somebody into taking photos.
