Too Darn Hot
Cripes. Two days in a row that the A/C in Wescoe has been broken. There's hot air blowing in the stairwells. One of the other offices that has a working thermostat shows 80 degrees. And my office is hotter than hers. It's pretty damn miserable. I'm exhausted from sitting in the heat already. And my headache is returning. Joy. I think it was the nasty office conditions that made me pass out as soon as I got home. I laid down on the couch "Just for a minute. Before I start dinner." And pow the next thing I knew, it was 6:10. Crazy.
Well, at least Lawrence isn't flooding. Osawattamie made NPR yesterday. Not the local reporter, either. I got to hear Renee Montagne say "Osawattamie, Kansas." It's nice to make the news for something other than deteriorating science standards, I suppose. But geez.
Tonight: haircut and eyebrow wax. Thank god. I feel like a muppet.

chronovore, YouTube Kitten Video Overload, to the tune of "The Joker" (which I hate, but this video is too precious to not share).

It's a bit of an OMG moment when you are watching the Weather Channel and suddenly realize that you recognize the bridge whose top bars are barely showing as the same one you drove across every day during the summer months of your childhood (specifically the double curve one that crosses Pottawatomie Creek). And this, before they flash the town name on the lower ID bar...
Second thought was "Oh, my - the rivers have joined again."
(Grandparents' farm was about 7 miles SW of Osawatomie, just outside of Lane. I spent many summer days riding into town to do laundry and look for fresh reading material at the library.)

"I feel like a muppet."
Okay, that struck me as the funniest thing I've read in weeks. I just suddenly had this image of Animal, dressed up as you, banging away on a keyboard, bellowing, "WANT HAIRCUT! WANT BROW WAX! RRRRRAAAARRRR!"

I do find it interesting that as I prepare to move back into Kansas (farther south, in Parsons - we move at the end of this month), the rains have come once again. My life highlights always seem to be waterlogged...
