Dating me with style

Bruce Willis Plays Kennedy Space Center

White shirt, attractive (read: not-obnoxious) vest, tie optional. I know this plants me firmly in the "can't shake the 80s" category, but I still love this look, on either sex. I was a fan of Mal, Zoe, and Simon's wardrobes on Firefly, too. It's such a good look.

So for those of you who are with me on this (perhaps unfortunate) style bandwagon, you'll be happy to hear I saw the style featured prominently in an Armani clothing store window in the Milano Galleria last week.

I hope you saved your vests, folks. Looks like they're coming back.

YAY, vests....

I've always loved vests and am glad to see they're coming back into style. Boy, since I left Cy's I've fallen so out of the habit of keeping track of such things.

I'm headed for Chicago; think I'll pack a couple of vests!

Yeah, and Bruce Willis still rocks my sox.

*Waves from bandwagon*

Yep, I have lots of love for that look, too. Yay!

Oh, and welcome home. :)

I plan to do the same for [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick, too.

If you don't already have patterns, McCall's has some really nice Victorian styles ones in their costumes section.

Apparently he rocked Kennedy Space Center, too! =D

Thanks for the tip! But I think I now own about every vest pattern printed in the last 10 years, including those. They are quite nice. :)

Sadly, vests and giant tits are not best friends.

But I look forward to seeing it on others. :D

In our neck of the woods, I'm seeing tons of late 70s/early 80s inspired fashions.

I have no strong opinions about the vests, but I dread the day I'm walking through a store and get attacked by a pair of shoulder pads. I remember having to take a seam ripper to a majority of my clothes during the shoulder pad years.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-08-03 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep. I removed all shoulder pads, too. Ugh. *shudder*

With [livejournal.com profile] _mac_'s build, I bet he'd look really great in vests. Just sayin'.

I like the vests, but I hate that Annie Hall-long-shirt-hanging-out part of the look.
I'm dating myself now.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-08-03 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. I like the look much better with the shirt tucked. The vest can be open or closed (unless it's a double-breasted vest, in which case, it must be closed), but shirt? Definitely tails in.

[identity profile] anerys.livejournal.com 2007-08-05 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I used all my old vest to make curtains....but I was also ten at the time so I doubt they'd fit me anyhow.

[identity profile] chronovore.livejournal.com 2007-08-08 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, mon cherriez - I'll be rocking it "tails-out" until I can lose my gut. But I've /definitely/ saved my vests. I am that middle-aged guy of living /past/ on trend and hanging on to stuff until the trend is reborn, phoenix-like.

...
Though "phoenix-like" might be a bit melodramatic to apply to vests.
