Still tired

What gives? It's been over a week and I'm still dragging. The Monday I returned from work after my (glorious! blissful!) vacation, I thought it was just body-clock readjustment, but obviously not. I have perhaps two or three moments during the day when I feel awake, but for the vast majority of time, I am on the verge of falling asleep. I wake up tired, I slog through my day tired and and I go to bed tired. This morning I couldn't get up at 6:00 a.m. to exercise. I just...couldn't. I reset the alarm for 7:00 and laid my head back down for what felt like two minutes before the alarm went off. I still didn't get out of bed for another fifteen minutes. Allergies? I don't feel ill. I hope it's allergies, because the other likely possibility is that my thyroid meds are failing. Bleh.

I'm going to give it another month before I make an appointment with the endocrinologist. I'm not supposed to see him until September, but if something is out of whack with my T3/T4/TSH, I need to get that fixed sooner rather than later. Suffering through another month of this seems torturous, but the worst of my spring allergies will be over by then and I'll be able to tell if this really is just (ha!) allergies.

Things I don't like that have come up in conversation twice in the past 24 hours, resulting in my assertions and re-assertions that I don't like these things, it is not a personal judgment on someone else's character who does like them, I just don't like them myself: KU basketball, outdoor dining, jellybeans. The fact that I was annoyed by said conversations is a testament to just how tired I am at this point. Testy. Very testy.

And not just jellybeans for me, either. Any gummy candy. Bleh.

With the exception of very good, very high quality licorice. Licorice so strong it's almost bitter. Mmmm.

Ugh, that draggin'-ass feeling? I have it too. I'm sleeping like a rock, getting enough hours, and it's still Not Enough to keep me from wanting to curl up for a nap. WTF?!

Good to know about the outdoor dining thing... although outdoor drinking doesn't count the same, right? ;)

If you've got it too, I'm going to hope that it's just damned allergies.

Outdoor drinking is fine.

Why I don't like eating outdoors: 1. Insects/dirt in my food = gross 2. Wind blows hair in my mouth = gross 3. Always either too hot or too cold, and this can change from one to the other during the course of a meal = gross.

I have enjoyed eating in partial outdoor settings in other parts of the country, thanks to environments that offer less wind and fewer bugs. But in general, given my druthers, I opt to eat indoors.

I will, however, booze it up pretty much anywhere.

Ergh. Hopefully it is "just" allergies (I understand, being a lifelong cultivator of excessive immune reactions).

What I want to know is, are "jellybeans" the same thing as "jellybabies"? I suppose that, even if they are physically the same thing, the fact that Ronald "the Beast" Reagan favored one, and Doctor Who favoured the other, ought to make all the difference in the world...

=D

I can't stand gummy candy of any sort. The texture, the way they make my teeth feel--yuck. Absolutely unappetizing in every way.

You know I'll always vote for keeping up on the various T levels! That being said, I think there is something going on with the change of seasons and allergies. Hmmm, maybe our hibernation instincts are off? I know, let's blame global warming :)!!!!

Yep.Since they've been completely stable for the past three years, I only have a yearly blood test now. But if my energy level remains ridiculously low for another six weeks, I'll request an early exam.

maybe they would let you run by for just a quick blood test? Then you could go in for an appt if you needed one.

That's what I did for the two years it took to stabilize mine. But then it was easy to drop by the clinic where I work :).

Yeah, my clinic is in Topeka.

I strongly suspect this is allergies. I'm going to wait until May.

Jellybeans are like hard, coated Jelly Babies. Even our Gummy Bears are harder than yummy Jelly Babies. We get everything wrong here. :)

I tend to agree. Me not like sticky candy. Actually, come to think of it, I pretty much just like chocolate.

Heh. That's what I hear, though I misdoubt the rumor that you boil pizza.

Besides, even if the food might be somewhat amiss, there's still Doctor Who.

It's either allergies or Spring Fever as defined by my dad:

"That's when the iron in your blood turns to lead in your ass."
