Something just got removed from my plate

I just had the most amazing thing happen.

Apparently, the college hired somebody to build and maintain Humanities department websites. This position is funded by the college and won't take any money out of department pockets. The man they hired will involve himself as little or as much as the individual departments wish.

This means I no longer maintain the English or MFA websites unless I want to. So the most hated aspect of my job is now...gone. Just like that. Poof!

The man walked into my office a complete stranger and exited my office as one of my Best Friends Evar.

BLISS.

When I later told the department chair how pleased I was, she said she was worried she'd offended me by asking this guy to take over.

I explained to her that my reaction wasn't based on injured pride, but rather complete shock.

I mean...really? For FREE? Unreal. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.

For some reason, that second one increased my confidence level by about 200%.
