Fail
I didn't get much at all (read = anything) done on the dance costume yesterday. I have to change gears on this and switch to a different costume design. I'm having a terrible time fitting the brass cups to a bra form. I'm not sure what sort of bra shape was used to shape the cups, but I can't find an underwire bra that matches the curves of the brass cup. I tried three different bra cups and all three failed to match. If I got the curve of the underwire to match the curve of the brass, it collapsed the top edge of the cup. If I forced the top edge of the bra cup to meet the line of the brass, the underwire buckled. Very very frustrating. I think I have (after a trip to Kohl's) a bra cup shape that might work, but I'm going to have to do some engineering and possible cutting of the underwire at the center front. That's going to require a lot of fiddling and I don't have time for that now. I hope to get a chance to look at
anerys's bra, with cups made by the same artist, to get a look at her base bra shape and construction.
Today I'm going to start on a basic cabaret costume, which is something I need anyway, since I have, oh, not a single cabaret bedlah (that fits) in my costume wardrobe. A few months ago I dismantled my ancient old black and silver bedlah. The poor thing was falling apart, the fabric was weakened from use, and the bra fit very poorly thanks to my changed body shape. So I have all the fringe, sequins, and appliques necessary to create another black and silver bedlah. It's always good to have a basic cabaret costume.
