Referred
Last night I talked to my (much beloved) doctor about the continuing G.I. problems. He agreed that whatever I've got is way out of his league and gave me a referral to a Dr. Hoffman. Dr. Burt said that Hoffman was the doc of choice if you wanted to learn about your body. He is "all about the education." He doesn't diagnose based on the experiences of other patients, and will listen to me and my experiences. Sounded good to me! I'm waiting to hear back from Hoffman's office about scheduling.
Since Dr. Hoffman's office is booked three to six weeks out, Dr. Burt gave me a prescription for another round of the Cipro/Diflucan cocktail. This will at least help alleviate the intestinal rumblings and bloat, perhaps making it possible for me to eat on site during faire weekends. Dr. Burt also said to either up my yogurt intake (can't eat too much, he says) or start taking extra probiotics. We confessed to each other our love of Brown Cow Yogurt and he admitted skimming the top cream off more than one container of the full-fat variety. I love me my Dr. Burt.
I think I have a cold. I thought it was allergies, but I'm coughing up stuff. Luckily, I have some Cipro coming my way. So if this is a bacterial infection, I'm all set.
Update: Picked up my prescription and whoa, Dr. Burt doubled the dose of the Cipro. This should be interesting. At least now I know how I react to the drug and can prepare for the side effects. Note to self #1: Think Before Speaking! You're probably bitchier than you think.
