Many things before the mail arrives.

Today's Sinfest is awesome. These are some words to live by.

The threat of more snow tomorrow does not thrill me. I mean, really? More?

I'm not going out for New Year's Eve. I'm worn out/annoyed/tired from being sick and I don't want to lose a day of my three-day weekend to exhaustion and hangover like last year, when I had to stumble through the day on less than three hours of sleep thanks to my fantastic morning body clock. I already lost one three-day weekend this month, and I don't care to have a repeat so soon. [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick and I are going to have a low-key evening at home. We'll party next year.

Watching Farscape with [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick is giving me no small inspiration to get my arms and shoulders back in shape. I haven't done any resistance training in months. Rawr!

*flap*flap*flap*

On the advice of my chiro-allergist, I'm going wheat and sugar free for a month. I've had intermittent sinus problems and hives since November. Even if the physical irritations weren't an issue, it's probably a good idea, and coincides with my inclination to exercise again. I'm tired of my wrists being all itchy and covered in scabby bumps.

I'm feeling restless about my current music collection. I'll take suggestions for things to try. I'm pretty open-minded (open-eared?) about musical genres. My CDs range from Abba to ZZ Top. But there are a few styles I just can't stand. Some of those are: acoustic-based rock (guy/girl with guitar, singing soulfully about the meaning of life), modern Nashville country, drone/noise. I'm not saying those styles are bad (well, except for that modern country shit), I just don't like 'em. I've tried. Not my thing. Most of my 2009 musical discoveries (BitterSweet, Shiny Toy Guns, Lady Gaga) have come from friend recommendations, so bring 'em on.

Looking ahead to 2010 events, I realized time is running out for early registration for ConQuesT 41. I'll most likely wind up working the early-morning con suite shift (see mention of nasty evil body clock, above), but just in case I don't get to take advantage of the staff rate, I'm going to go ahead and register for the ultra-low discount rate.

The website says the theme is "Steampunk and Evil Geniuses." I already did the Steampunk think a couple years ago, and they're a little late to the game on that one, anyway. But Evil Geniuses are always in style, so I'll be pondering a way to incorporate that into the 1111101001 Arabian Nights costume for the masquerade competition. [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick has made a few (quiet) noises about being included for a costume option, so I've got that angle to consider, too.

Things I want do to more often in 2010:

Work in my visual journal
Sew clothes that are funky and beautiful
Learn how to use my new serger
Be more disciplined in my exercising
Set aside more time for [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick
Go on day trips/mini vacations to local areas of interest
Dance of any sort--belly dance, club dance, ballroom dance

And dear god, it's 10:00. Where is the mail?
