Now for content:
Posting these past couple days has been...nonexistent. Saturday night I came down with stomach pain and slight headache. Then Sunday into early evening on Monday was spent with a migrane. I haven't had one since May and thought maybe that part of my life had moved on. Bummer. Bigger bummer: I used up the last of my pills when I was in California and never bothered to get a refill. And the prescription refill time had expired. Er. So yeah, not quite 48 hours of a rollercoaster of misery until the cafergot 'script finally got called in and then picked up. Lucky me, only about 6 (non-consecutive) hours of that was so bad that I was non-functional. I know most migrane sufferers get it a lot worse. At least I've never thrown up.

Last night 0 and I went to the Sprint Values Excellence awards banquet at Hereford House in Leawood. It was cool to see 0 recognized. It'll be cooler when the check shows up. I got the salmon. Yum.

This morning I'm going to have my first voice lesson. I'm taking lessons from a grad student over in Murphy. Should be an exercise in humility. I haven't done any real singing in about 15 years. Should be interesting. I hope this kid is patient.

UPDATE: The voice lesson went really well! My scales did not suck! I have more range left than I thought (a bit over 2 octaves--I used to have 3) and my upper register didn't sound so horribly weak in the practice room. Yay for good acoustics. I have three songs to work on and next week I must remember to bring water with me. Choke! Kyle (the kid) was very sweet and friendly. And good heavens, delicate! He looks like an elf. I felt like an amazon.

Hey- congrats on the voice lessons- being confident in using your voice is such a good thing when performing! Hope they go well!

ANd- how is the knitting coming along- any projects in the wings?

I'm in a holding pattern on knitting right now--I want to make a hat, but need to learn to use Double-Pointed-Needles. And I need someone to show me how since I suck at learning from books. Know anyone who'd be patient enough to show me?

I'd be happy to :> I made hats for my parents when I was a kid. Thinking back I am shocked that they wore them, as they were pretty darn silly looking. My fatal knitting flaw is that I can't get the sizing right on things, but I am familiar with knitting in the round and with the litte double pointed needles.

I learned double point at a yarn barn sock class - Ruth and I used to have sunday morning knittings, maybe once her partner gets out of the frequent hospital stays again I'll have another - I'll post in my journal

I must tell you that you're sort of the inspiration for it. I'd love to join your anthology at faire this year if the offer is still open. And I knew I'd want to sing with ya'll. Nothing's worse than someone who thinks she can sing but can't, so I decided to start lessons.

I'd be interested! I have a tendency to get stuck in a rut if I don't have inspiration, and a little knitting group would be ideal. People to learn from! By mornings, do you really mean mornings? If so, that'd be fab. Something like 10 to noon would be ideal.

Haven't done it in quite a while we used to gather at my place about 9am - I supplied coffee, Ruth bagles, and

theryn orange juice. But Theryn moved and Ruth's sweetie has been doing the dialaysis and frequent hosptial visits and she took another job that was saturday mornings. But the sweetie is on the mend so maybe we could start up again. I'll contact her.

If he makes you feel like an amazon, I'd feel like a giant troll then. I think of you as comparatively delicate (in size only, never personality), and could only imagine the degrees of worse with your voice instructor.

LOL! You could never be a troll, darling. Trolls don't have lovely cheekbones and graceful arms and shoulders. =)

Singing is not a requirement to wenchdom.

We only sing in group moments, and some of the younguns occasionally take it upon themselves. Unlike other faires, we are not purveyors of bawdy songs (there are too many irish bands about for that). However, you are perfectly welcome to cultivate your singing, particularly if it will make you more comfortable with performing.

I will be seriously addressing the issue of who will or will not be working with me (making the assumption, of course, that they want me and my women back this next year) at the beginning of April. If you are still interested, we'll get together and talk about what it really entails and whether or not it's something you are actually interested in.

The singing is so cool, but the pain is suck-arse-buttish. Sorry you're suffering; I hope it was better tonight and that you could enjoy the dancing and movie.

You got me to thinking... it would be fun to sing again... though I was never formally trained (always in plays)...

I don't have much, if any, formal training. Many years in church choir, three years in school choir (I got top scores in Jr. High competitions, but hated the High School director and dropped out after freshman year), and less than one year of voice lessons.
