A different track
It's time to give up on treating my digestive problems in the gut. Nothing worked. Digestives enzymes made no difference. The Xyfaxin/Pepto-Bismol approach completely failed and, I think, made the bloating even worse. Cutting grains eliminated cramps and stomach-aches after eating, but post-meal bloating continues.
My gut issues are (if I can convince my PCP of this) now going to be treated as an endocrine problem.
I canceled my May 3 appointment with Dr. Hoffman and replaced it with an appointment with Dr. Burt (my PCP), at the exact same time on the same date. How auspicious that Dr. Burt had an opening for that time, eh? I'm going to suggest we take my levothyroxine dosage from 112mcg to 125mcg, which is just one dosage step up. I hope Dr. Burt will agree with me that numbers aren't everything. As long as they aren't off-the-charts high and I feel better, who cares if my numbers are a little high? It'll mean a few months of blood tests every four weeks again, but that's fine as far as I'm concerned.
Here's hoping Dr. Burt is on board with this.
