Today will be a better day

One, it's the weekend. Rock!

Two, I'm not going to remain morose and irritable about all the bullshit legislation stuff.

Three, someone posted this commerical to the [livejournal.com profile] vintage_ads community and really--getting the opportunity to start my day with this? It's a good life.

Note: I have no effing idea why this is opening in that weird iframe window. Is it doing it for anyone else? If you want to see the video on YouTube, it's here.

I don't know what you mean by the weird iframe window, so I'm not getting it, but that ad is awesome.

Oh, good! I'm glad it's not doing that for everyone.

This is what happens for me: I click on the video to play it and it opens up in a window with "iframe" in the tab label--not a new tab, so I have to click the Back Arrow to get back to the LJ page. And I don't get any of the YouTube info. Annoying. To find the actual video on YouTube, I had to search for it. Very annoying.

Doesn't do it for me either. And I posted it on Facebook because it is awesome.

Yay! I wonder if it's something in the settings for my little netbook. It's never done it before, but who knows what gets altered every time I do a system update.

Oh my word! That is fantastic!!! They should do this NOW!

That video is just too perfect. 'Color by paprika'. ROFLMAO

If ad agencies still made commercials like this, people wouldn't use TiVo to fast forward past them.

[identity profile] radcliffe.livejournal.com 2010-06-05 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly!

The best I get now is a new musical artist to go check out. I am still grateful to some diamond company about 6-7 years back- for using Nick Drake's "Pink Moon" in a commercial.

That was the line that sent it from "outstanding" to "awesome" for me, too.

I admit to ff through a great deal of commercials, when I've already seen them.
I also admit to watching a great many, some are super little vignettes.

And some I watch over and over like the this 2008 Honda commercial:

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 12:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, that ad was 2008? It seems like so much longer ago!

Did this really sell TV dinners? I have my doubts. Though I'm sure it entertained vast crowds, I think such as this have dubious claim to success, which is why we don't get a lot of truly wacko ads anymore. Not that we'd know, having no TV and all....

Just wow.

I would be more inclined to purchase a product marketed in this way than I would something sold to me in the manner of those fucking Axe commercials. Most ads today do a better job convincing me not to buy the product.
