Well who knows what's really going on, right? Because this is just my impression. And I have no idea what you mean by distilling their attitude into a business statement, but here's been my experiences:

One of the guys, Scott, was all "Pleased to fuckin' meet ya! You'll fit right in!" when I met him two weeks ago. Those were, btw, his actual words when he shook my hand. Awesome.

Two of the other guys, both of whom were there last night, failed to meet my eyes or acknowledge my hello when I walked in the door. One was working with a client, so I suppose I'll give him a pass for now--although he did look up when I walked in, then looked away. The other one passed me when I walked back to the office and kept looking straight ahead. Later, he walked between Trainer Chris D and I when we were talking, but didn't say anything, even "excuse me."

I think I'm going to ask Trainer Chris D if the guy has an attitude. Perhaps the gym has some sort of policy about not saying anything to a trainer or trainee while they're working together? Oh, but no...while we were there, Marlo (one of the two female trainers) asked if we were done with a piece of equipment. So...yeah, I think the guy is just kind of an asshole.

Does that help describe the situation?
