The push
My arms and back are tired. This was my second workout after two weeks of no workouts except for yoga and dance class. It was a killer. Yesterday's was more lower-body focused, but I noticed the loss of strength (already!) on the one squat movement today.
Warmed up with jumping rope. Three sets of 60 seconds of jumping (as best I can do) with 20-second rest intervals. I really suck at jumping rope, btw. I think my all-time record was 35 jumps in a row. Usually I make it to about twelve. I wear gloves because I trip on the rope and wind up smacking the back of my hand with the rope. Ouch. Doing that three or four times a minute sans gloves is not a good time.
A1 Dumbbell High Pull 8 reps, four sets (8 lb dumbbells)
A2 Dumbbell Hang Snatch 8 reps, four sets (8 lb dumbbells)
A3 Squat to Press 12 reps, four sets I did ten reps* (4 lb dumbbells**)
A4 Bent Alt. Rows 12 reps, four sets (8 lb dumbbells)
A5 Hand-Elevated Push-Ups 12 reps, four sets
A6 Renegade Rows 12 reps, four sets I did ten, eight, eight, and eight (4 lb dumb bells)
No rest between movements, 120-second rest after A6 before returning to A1.
*WEAK.
**REALLY WEAK.
My shoulder started to hurt a bit, but I decided to say fuck it and pushed through. And guess what? It doesn't hurt any more now than it did this time yesterday. Yay! I think I'm done with the healing portion and it's just time to start rebuilding strength there.
I need to get my Rawr attitude back. With winter coming on, I'm having a hard time getting motivated. It's not a matter of getting/staying solid for shorts-season (because, you know, I don't wear shorts). Winter is...well, it's just hard. Hard to get motivated to do anything more than sit on the couch, bundled up with blankets and books.
I'll run by the Merc this week to pick up a bottle of 5-HTP. I remember that helped a lot when I was having attitude/motivation issues a year or so ago. After I finished the bottle, it was fairly easy to keep going on momentum. That was pretty awesome.
