And now for something completely different

I know I could use a change from what I'm seeing on most of my F-list. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] gamera_spinning for posting this. Holy shit. I can't believe this is actually a movie now.

Oh, Brad, I hope they don't fuck it up.

They havent started the filming yet (as of right now, they have only done the trailer) But these people understand what Brad had wrote as great stuff. Yes, they had to change a few things, they paid Brad well and have kept him in the loop of the filming and progress of the film. They have some great things going for it. I can't wait to see this on the screen (hope it gets to be on the screen at major art theaters at least) Now all i want to see is some one to do Blackburn as a movie.....

Oops, yeah. I meant "gonna be a movie now." For like three years, it's just been an IMDB page. =D

Oh, geez, I dunno if I could watch Blackburn. It's hard enough reading it, and then I can always put it down and come back later.

Have you read laughing boy?Thats another one that is hard for people to read. Me i devoured them both. (and all of the other Blackburn stories, which there is at least 4 or 5 short stories)

I just can't wait till this movie is made. I'm so dam proud of Brad and Alive and Well....

Yeah, Laughing Boy was a really hard read for me, too. It was fantastic, but wow. Emotionally, a very hard read.

I recomend reading Blackburns lady. a hard read but at the same time it is one of the best blackburn stories no one knows about...

I actually got to hear him read it at ConQuesT...two years ago? It was really good.

I have always liked his voice, he reads his stuff well. (oh and there will be another Blackburn story soon, he has writen one up)

A propos of nothing

Did you see the steampunk patterns that Gertie blogged about this morning? Simplicity 2172 and 2207? What do you think? (I rather like.)

The only steampunk-ish stuff I'm seeing on Gertie's blog today is the dog corsets (http://www.blogforbettersewing.com/2011/05/want-to-sew-your-dog-corset.html). If you could send a link to the article you're referencing, that would be great because I would really love to get the image of dogs in corsets out of my head.

Edit: Oh! I see the link for the items you're talking about. I think they're okay. The jacket in 2207 looks like it's got some weird sizing issues through the armscythe (it desperately needs underarm gussets, and there's something wrong going on in that sleeve cap), but I like the overall shape of it. I'm considering incorporating 2172 into a ghawazee-style coat for cover-ups with my bellydance stuff. It has the lot of the same elements as a ghawazee coat (http://www.google.com/search?q=gawahzee+coat&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=Z7v&rlz=1R1GGLL_en___US415&prmd=ivns&source=lnms&tbm=isch&ei=vAbATf-tHdK1tgeK1MjFBQ&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=2&ved=0CBgQ_AUoAQ&biw=1280&bih=800).

I don't have a great link for just these two patterns, but they are the two most recent Historical ones:

Ooooh yeah! Have I seen you in a Gawahzee coat before? They're neat.

I'll admit, I might have been drawn in by the sweet color and pattern palette on the red dress in 2172.

Definitely! That's what I wear as a cover-up when I'm walking around site before and after Smoker.

This is not at faire, but it's a good pic of one of my coats

Oh, and this is one of my fave pics of me performing, ever. And it's a nice shot of one of my favorite coats:
