Friday finally
The Friday Five bunch has really been lying down on the job. This is last week's entry, but since I wasn't online to do it and there isn't a new one anyway, I'll go ahead and do it now:
1. What do you do for a living?
I'm the secretary in charge of graduate students for KU's English department
2. What do you like most about your job?
Organizing things
3. What do you like least about your job?
Dealing with stupid or selfish people
4. When you have a bad day at work it's usually because _____...
People aren't doing the part of their job that lets me do mine
5. What other career(s) are you interested in?
Housespouse, textile artist
OK, that was thrilling. Onward!
Dancing last night was ok. I did manage to do a bit of floorwork, although it mostly involved backbends since I couldn't get my leg to support me on upright poses. The biggest annoyance was I can't do my normal walking shimmy, which is every bellydancer's main fallback for travelling around a performance area. Stupid pulled muscle!
Tonight, out dancing at the Granada to the melodious sounds of Sellout. I'm not sure if I'll make it to the Fetish Ball on Saturday since I have a bit of a busy day planned tomorrow. I'll see what my energy level is. But at this point, the magic 8-ball seems to be pointing towards "Maybe next time."
Heads-up for next Thursday (April 22): My friend and one of the most talented guys in the modern rockabilly scene Deke Dickerson will be playing the Grand Emporium in Kansas City. We will definitely be going to this, so if anyone wants to come along, please let me know. Deke puts on a great show and this tour he's got a very clean, spartan lineup that emphasizes each musician's skills and special sound. If it sounds like I'm gushing, I am. Really, he's one of the best. I imagine the show will start late because the GE is a lame hellhole that likes to torture its clientele as long as possible so it can squeeze more booze money from them. So rest up. You'll be well rewarded for coming out.
God I need a nap already.
