Reading into every word you say
NGL, some of these books sound like they might be useful at some points in life.
Ragnar's Guide to Home and Recreational Use of High Explosives
How to Disappear Completely and Never Be Found
Those could be really very helpful.
I don't understand why the creator of that webpage included some of the books, though. How to Make Your Own Shoes seems very practical. American Murder Ballads are a fairly well-known musical genre. Tattooed Mountain Women and Spoonboxes of Daghestan could be interesting, provided it's not too terribly dry. Most of them, though, are glorious examples of WTF.
I remember that 101 Uses for a Dead Cat book. I'm pretty sure one of my friends had a copy.
Remember how I said I was going to practice double-unders on Wednesday night? Well, I did. Practice them, that is. I didn't get a single double-under, but that's not to say I finished with no badges of honor.

Yeah. That was...not fun. I was already kind of down and I'm not going to tell you I didn't come close to crying halfway through. So frustrating. Nobody ever said getting fit was easy.
Last night's movement session was much more encouraging. I put on a CD and did some bellydance improv for thirty solid minutes. By the time I got done, was (literally) dripping sweat onto the floor. Gross, but good.
If you need something that will make you laugh until you cry, check out this video. "Kyle Kaplan and Nick Braun, best known as Michael Bernstein and Cameron Jones of the short-lived ABC Family sitcom 10 Things I Hate About You, star as every single person on Earth when Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” suddenly comes on the radio."
SEVEN HOURS UNTIL THE WEEKEND. A real weekend, this time. One where I actually get to fuck around/get fucked up and have fun. AW YEAH.

And yet? I never manage to switch stations when that song comes on AGAIN.
(Note: The same cannot be said of Ms. Carly Rae - she gets the boot immediately.) ;)

I do, too.
I am so tired of carrying CDs around in the car I drive right now. The Chevelle is going to have an MP3 player port for sure. Nothing else in that car is going to be stock. Fuck if the stereo's going to be anything other than awesome.
FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS.

Have a great party!
I'm so exhausted, all I want to do is stay home and sleep, but we are going to the lake, once again. Dean's got pay-me fix-it projects up there, so....
Well, at least I can sleep in the camper. And I'm GONNA take all my ingredients for the summer salads I want to make, and I'm GOING TO MAKE THE DAMN THINGS! *grmblgrmblgrmbl*

YAY for sleeping in the camper! Enjoy what you can of the time at the lake.

That song-video was sooo funny! I love the part where they talk about the female vocalist! I stopped listening to music radio a long time ago...this is why.
Also, I loved that book list! Most of the titles are funny, and the covers are awesome, but have to say that "Pictorial Poultry Keeping" is one I'd actually like to have. Yeahp.

I still listen to some music radio because I love trashy pop music. I even bought the CD that has the song they're mocking. =D

On the Gotye song --- since I don't have a radio, the first time I heard of it was on Scalzi's blog, where one of the commenters remarked, "As for Gotye…meh. It’s hard for me to take a polarized stand on a song that builds on the melody for “Baa Baa, Black Sheep”. Now I just hum "have you any wool" to the...xylophone? Wikipedia confirms that this is xylophone in there...parts.

I like the Gotye song, and bought the album. And I still listen to it! Of course, I'm also a fan of the Ke$ha song that incorporates the faux-oriental "There's a place in France where the ladies where no pants" melody. Incorporating well-known tunes like that into songs is kinda clever and fun, IMO.

Coincidentally, I watched "Dr Strangelove" last night and now "The Ants Go Marching" is stuck in my head --- I know it's "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" that is the bomber-crew motif, but kids all over the English-speaking world know it as "The Ants Go Marching."

I absolutely agree. I got such a charge when I heard that song for the first time, based on that alone.
I really like that video, and I am really looking forward to her next album. The teaser I heard sounds just like I'd want it to.

So awesomesauce.

That whole vid makes me homesick for SoCal, and it also makes me put on my bucket list "straighten hair and get super-long extensions, just for the back-to-my-youth feel of that long-ass straight hair.
