I'm allergic to pie

When Mommy & Nana were here, we bought a cranberry-apple pie at the Merc and had that on Mother's Day afternoon. That evening, I noticed hives on the backs of my hands (my #1 hive spot). Dean and I finished off the last two pieces yesterday evening. This morning: Hives. That's the only thing I ate in common with Sunday, so it's gotta be the pie. Pardon the expression, but that one really takes the cake.

So today I'm on my detox diet: Lots of weak herbal tea, a little fruit, lots of vegetables, and a little bit of bland protein. Trying to flush this stuff out of my system because these buggers itch and benedryl is not an option for me during the day.

Gopi (my yoga teacher) recommended a local chiropractor (Mikell Adams--who I saw years ago for my back) for allergy stuff. Her ad in the phone book does list "allergy elimination." Hmm. Might have to give her a call.

bast
Often called a gossip or a girly girl, you are
Bast, the beautiful cat goddess. You love being
female, and all that comes with it. Perfume,
pretty clothes, nice shoes. You make the boys
realize what they're missing! You are kind and
loving with those in your favour, but I feel
sorry for those on your bad side. Your temper
is as lengendary as your love of cats. Meow!

I'm sorry to hear about your reaction- do you have problems with either fruit individually? For it could be some strange element in the crust then, an unusual sweetener or such. I was compelled to make a cranberry apple crisp that morning, so I found the post a bit Freaky Friday-ish.

I've never had problems with apples or cranberries, and the crust ingredients are: Flour, water, canola oil, and salt. Hmmm. I believe the filling ingredients were equally innocuous since it came from the Merc. The whole thing is just weird.

Sleepiness? Benedryl makes a spray. I don't get hives, but it works good on itchy insect bites.

They have a cream, too, but the topical stuff has never worked for my hives. I think because usually they aren't caused by a skin allergy, rather it's a skin reaction to a food allergy. Lucky me!

might be worth getting an ingerdients list.
I have a 3 strawberry limit - haven't tried to push it for years but last time I had 10 (about a decade ago) I was covered in small red hives - I looked like a strawberry

wow - pretty simple - pout.

Could be a fluke - a cross contamination of the pie from some other product. Have you ever had a nut sensitivity?

No, but I'm wondering if maybe this was brought on by my new allergy medication. There's irony for you! Because I woke up with hives again this morning, and no pie yesterday.
