Monday Tuesday shitlist

From [livejournal.com profile] stimps
"Today's MONDAY SHITLIST: tell me five songs you hope you never hear again as long as you live. Now, the thing is, these can't be songs that you just think are overexposed, because those can be made fresh again by the workings of time. And they can't be songs that just happen to have a negative personal connotation for you. This is the SHITLIST, which means we just deal with the absolute dregs. These songs have to be complete and utter shit, songs that had no right to be written and perform no function other than to make you get rid of them once the opening notes sound."

Have to agree with [livejournal.com profile] stimps on my first two:
1. (You're) Having My Baby
2. Leather and Lace
3. Reunited
4. Ebony and Ivory
5. Um, and pretty much anything off the Genesis album Invisible Touch. As if there was any doubt why Peter Gabriel left the band...

We Built This City (http://www.songlyrics4u.com/starship/we-built-this-city.html) by Jefferson Starship. I remember hating it as a kid, and it still makes me cringe thinking that it is even remotely possible that I'll hear it again.

You know that won the #1 Worst Song survey (http://www.usatoday.com/life/music/news/2004-04-18-worst-songs_x.htm) by Blender magazine?

You know the combination of all those songs playing mentally in several officially makes this the most hazardous post I've read in a week...

*hurk* Oh, gods, not "Invisible Touch"...

I WANT MY MTV is a song I can't stand. PLUS most of the stuff that is played on the radio these days, including that Jessica Simpson re-make.

1. Absolutely agree with you there
2. Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon
3. Every Breath You Take
4. Islands in the Stream
5. The Beetle Song

Yes, but the song is really wonderful. That's what makes her singing it that much more of a goddam tragedy.

Gawd, I didn't even think about #2. Yeah, that song is really bad. Bad and offensive. Whatta combo! I don't think I know #5 and that's probably a good thing.

Oh, I LOVE the original by Berlin! Jessica Simpson just murders it.

Yes, the best part of the song was the bass line. Can't even hear it in the cover version. Makes me want to go out and rent Top Gun.

Amusing I have such positive memories of the first 3
1) was used as the soundtrack for a biology class slide film on cell reproduction
2) Duet I used to do with a friend that played guitar in westport
3) "our song" with me and the guy I traded virgnities with

I think it's actually called Alexander Beetle, my bad.
