All fandom all the time

Yesterday I saw this post on Tumblr. So I made this.

Don't dig too deep on that lokiperfection blog, there is some creepy ass shit there, I tell you what. But I stick around because she posts damn fine photos.

In other news, Today's Qwertee:

I don't ship anyone in LotR. Except maybe Merry/Pippin, even though I don't read the fic. They're just...so shippable. Anyway. I don't ship anyone in LotR but this is a nice essay on how non-sexual love can be just as deep and as influential as being in a loving, sexual relationship.

Namaste, hahaha!

That T is nice, it reminds me of this one (http://www.zazzle.com/mama_tried_tee_shirts-235369922666479749) that I've always wanted in a babydoll style.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-01-11 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I knew a rockabilly guy who had MAMA TRIED tattooed flash-art style across the front of his neck. With the banner and sparrows and everything.

I like that tee!

I can't manage to get back into Supernatural; I think I skipped it for too many years, and now I'm just lost. May have to add it to my list when we finally get high speed internet....

On the other hand, I may never get to it, the way the list is growing!

I like the tat idea, but neck tats still sort of squick me a bit.

[livejournal.com profile] mckitterick and I started rewatching it from the beginning. I'm not into the angel/demon storyline--I much prefered the episodic monster of the week format--but I continue watching it for the pretty.

And boy, are they PRETTY!

I just had to laugh at the way tumblr went a bit nuts at the SPN fandom getting the People's Choice award.

But it's cool that groups get recognized for that, even if it's just a matter of "VOTE FOR US!"

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-01-11 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I was wondering what all the references to "watching the SPN fandom go apeshit" was about. Annoying how nobody said why.

Edit: Fandoms get an award? o_O

It's funny-there are a very few tattoos that I've seen that I like, but when I do, I love them.

I have a very well built male friend who has a stylized tribal/dragon on his back; it's just - riveting (maybe it's just the muscles, but the tat lets me look at them! :D).

And I saw a really fine one a while back; it was a tattoo of the guy's father's handprint, done on his shoulder, as if his dad was sort of giving him a squeeze with his hand.

But if I ever got one, it would be a very delicate piece - a bracelet/anklet of some sort, or a small suggestive piece in an area probably covered by a standard bikini.

[identity profile] carmy-w.livejournal.com 2013-01-11 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, from PC they did; SPNFamily got Favorite TV following; Katy Perry's fans - the KatyKats - got Favorite Music Fan following.
That appears to be the only two PC awards for the fans themselves.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-01-11 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow. That's...pretty cool.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2013-01-11 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)

Would that be [livejournal.com profile] draco_kc? I love that tat.

I've seen that handprint tat, it was so touching. (pun not intended, honestly)

It's just the neck tats remind me too much of prison tats, which brings back some squicky memories. Funny, the first tat I ever wanted was to be on the side/back of my neck, and I'm glad the artist talked me right out of it.
I waited another twenty odd years to find someone to do what I later *really* wanted, and I'm very happy with it.

[identity profile] carmy-w.livejournal.com 2013-01-11 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
No, after looking at his page, it's not him; my friend is originally from the Great Bend area, and now lives about two miles from Kanopolis Lake. He doesn't blog at all, to my knowledge.

And yes, that's exactly what I thought of the handprint!

I think my problem with most tattoos is that some of them look awfully ham-handed; the lines are blurry, the color bleeds all over the place. I'd want one that was sharp and clean, and that seems to be the exception, not the rule, at least around here.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2013-01-11 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)

I agree with you, there's a lot of junk work out there, that's why I spent so long looking for an artist who could do what I wanted. Although, I grant that it's blurred a bit over the years, but that's an ink issue, and they are so much better now.

I hope you find someone who can do the work you like, if you ever decide to have it done!

[identity profile] carmy-w.livejournal.com 2013-01-11 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! It sounds like I would have recs from several friends, including you, so if I ever do decide to.... ;)

Oh, I LOVE the cosmological aspect of the demons/angels! And of course I love extended storylines and what they can teach writers about developing such things.

That essay is SO GOOD. I have platonic friends whom I'd venture to say I love more deeply than I do my own spouse.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-01-11 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm glad you enjoyed it!

<3 <3 THAT T-SHIRT <3 <3 I was sorely tempted.

Also, I have many hearts for that essay. Platonic hearts.

I would so buy that tee shirt if I wore tees very often.

THAT SHIRT

[identity profile] shrijani.livejournal.com 2013-01-12 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
I wear tee shirts very often and so I TOTALLY JUST ORDERED IT

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-01-12 12:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't wait to see it in person. Also, love that icon.

I can't wait to see it in person.

Me, neither! What a great design. This might be tied with my Nyan TARDIS shirt for Best T-shirt I Own. Or maybe my Rocket Surgery (IQ test) shirt. It's kind of hard to say.

Also, love that icon.

I nicked it (with permission) from someone who posts to [livejournal.com profile] vintage_ads, I think. It's noted the comments for the icon.

Most of the bleeding/blur is due to tattoos being treated badly. Sun exposure makes black tattoos turn blue and blurry and fades color tattoos unevenly.

The city where I live (Portland, Oregon) has a lot of tattooed folks, and every summer I cringe to see people with gorgeous tattoos and suntans/burns. You spent a lot of money and time getting that ink, put some godforsaken sunblock on it!

I have the words "All is full of love" on my arm. I got it in 2007 and it still looks pretty crisp--because I'm so paranoid about putting SPF 30 on it whenever it shows.

ETA: Photo! It's a few years old, but it still looks like this.

That's a nice one!

I think part of it is that some tats look like they were drawn with fine-line pens (so to speak), and some with heavier lines. I prefer the fine-line style, but they seem to be few & far between.
