Health report
I've noticed a significant recession in my energy levels and general sense of Feeling Well this week. I think it's time to document. Pretty sure it's all due to the concert on Monday. I certainly don't regret going, but I have more than paid for it.
Monday night: Home a bit before 1:00a.m., in bed around 1:15.
Tuesday: Did not get up for yoga. Woke at 6:45. Was tired all day, and took a longer-than-usual nap midday (about forty minutes). Hip pain was significant. By end of day had ridiculous swelling issues, despite not eating terribly much. Went to restorative yoga class, which was excellent. Had trouble sleeping. Not sure if from general unrest or louder-than-usual noises.
Wednesday: Tired upon waking, but got up for yoga. Felt very weak. Couldn't hold some standing poses for even ten breaths. Stayed actively tired (as opposed to just sluggish) all day. Took an early nap, and slept nearly the whole hour instead of my usual 20-30 minutes. Still more-noticeable-than-usual swelling. Ate a late dinner and had trouble sleeping.
Thursday: Still tired. Slept poorly due to heavy rainstorm and some thunder, also had serious problems falling asleep, possibly because of a late dinner. Didn't have the energy for morning yoga, but plan to go to evening yoga class. Very little appetite. Still haven't eaten breakfast at 9:50. Legs were tired and heavy walking up the hill.
Basically, my chronic fatigue issues are back in full swing, from one late night. My hip is still aching (although the shooting pains have decreased). My appetite is alternately absent or voracious. I am take-a-nap-tired all the time. I'm having stronger-than-usual desire for non-foods (pizza, burgers-with-bun and french fries, pancakes, etc.). These symptoms have lasted for three days. This tells me that I can't afford to do late nights as often as I thought. I'm considering eliminating them altogether except in rare occasions like Monday's opportunity. Concerts and social events that run later than 10pm will be nixed unless the event is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Edit: I was doing a bit of thinking about this. Why is a late night so much more difficult to deal with now? Probably the same reason that my body can't tolerate the foods it used to. For so long, it was used to dealing with gluten, dairy, soy, etc., and while I didn't feel great, I didn't have the spectacularly negative reactions that I would if I ate them now. Same thing applies here. Because I've been careful to give my body regular, adequate rest for so long now, when it doesn't get it, the impact is much more noticeable.
Fascinating, yes?
