Dilemma

Gov. Sebelius has granted state employees Friday off in observance of Reagan's death. However, offices that serve the public must remain open, if minimally staffed. There will be one person in the office (our payroll person has mounds of stuff to do before she goes on vacation next week). So.

Do I take Friday off?

Or do I come in and work and get 12 hours of holiday comp time to use anytime the rest of 2004?

I would say work and take the 12 hours to use another day, unless you plan on attending a service in your area for Reagan's memorial.

I'd probably use it for holiday comp time, but with work being so slow for you right now, maybe you could use taking the day off on Friday.

My vote's to ignore Reagan's day entirely. Consider the comp time a gift to use at your leisure and slack with no fear of repercussion.

At least, that's what I'd do. Since no one's building a vast dance floor over Reagan's grave, it's just going to be another day for me.

comp time. definitely. It'll be like having a day off regardless, because there will be no co-workers around to bother you. work it and take off later
