Maybe I could just sleep through the next several months

Might've overdone it in today's session with Andrew. I'm so wiped out I don't even have the energy to read porn. Not shitting you. I found a due South rec list on Tumblr and had to just bookmark the list so I can come back to it later because I do not have the energy to enjoy a good due South story how I'd like.

That's some serious tired.

I started the SCD experiment today.

Three to five days of shredded chicken in broth, broiled meatballs (so most of the fat drips out), pureed carrots, and gelatin made with half water and half no-sugar-added grape juice. After the intro period (I'm hoping for three days, not five), I get to add pureed summer squash (but not zucchini). Then after four days of eating pureed summer squash once a day, I graduate to pureed acorn squash (provided I experience no problems with the summer squash). After four days of that, I get to add pureed butternut squash. And then pureed spinach. And then pureed zucchini. Repeat for the next several months until I've added in more vegetables. All food prep is done with very low fat since fat is tough to digest.

I get to start eating vegetables that are simply cooked, not pureed, in Stage Five.

This is going to be horrible.

That is, like, too tired to be alive, practically. *hugs*

I hope that the new experiment gets good results.

I am rooting for you that the diet helps long-term. Are you allowed to have wine, coffee, or tea while you're doing this? Because we could get together for any of those options.

I took a nap! I feel a little better! Like, I might have the energy to read some fic, now. In bed.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2014-06-01 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I can have water and water with a little splash of 100% apple or grape juice (no sugar added, of course). That's...it? *sigh*

[identity profile] sherwood21.livejournal.com 2014-06-01 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I will drink water with no sugar added apple juice with you. And/or we could go thrifting sometime.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2014-06-01 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
THRIFTING! YES! That sounds fantastic, actually. I could go this Saturday, if you're available. D'you want to stay in Lawrence or hit KC? Email me and we can work out details.

Ugh, you poor thing, that sounds terribly boring. And out of season, too.

I'm not sure I understand the SCD, and there's way too much contradictory stuff I'm finding... what about all that fructose? I'm really confused..or perhaps I'm thinking of the FODMAP diet? (Or avoiding them, or however it goes).

Bleh.

[identity profile] msmitti.livejournal.com 2014-06-02 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
how long does this restricted diet last?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2014-06-02 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, this isn't a diet that conforms to FODMAPs. And it's really not all that much fructose for someone who doesn't have fructose issues. I think between the gelatin and the watered-down applejuice, I've had maybe a cup of juice all total?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2014-06-02 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Um. Kind of forever? At some point, though, I'll at least be able to have solid vegetables and fat. That'll be a good day.

[identity profile] chalcedonygrey.livejournal.com 2014-06-02 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Yikes on both counts. Glad you got to feeling a little better energy-wise at least.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2014-06-02 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Until today's workout, anyway. God, I've barely got up off the couch today except to do some laundry and food prep.

[identity profile] pointoforigin.livejournal.com 2014-06-02 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
LOL--pardon me for laughing as I see one of my own favorite confessions appearing in someone else's life. "May have overdone it," indeed. That's one of several candidates for my tombstone.

I hope this diet has RESULTS. It sounds like pure hell, but would be worth it if it worked.

[identity profile] kazoogrrl.livejournal.com 2014-06-02 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Jeez, it's like they want you to just give up all interest in food and not have the desire to eat anything, thus solving the problem.

But seriously, I hope this works. I mean, I REALLY hope this works. I admire that you are willing to keep plugging away to find out what is the issue, it takes a lot of strength and perseverance to do this.

My mom is having some health issues and I realized, as I drove home, that I think of my body as a ticking time bomb and I'm just waiting for it to count down to zero.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2014-06-02 12:03 pm (UTC)(link)
True, that's not terrible, I think I tend to get stupid over all the stuff I read on the fructose malabsorption and have a knee-jerk reaction: "eeek fruit and carrots", LOL.
I still think it's a problem for me, so I'm hyper-vigilant.
But last night I ate pork chops with applesauce.. yum!

On that note, did you ever see "The Carrot Train to Crazytown"? (http://whole9life.com/2010/04/crazytown2/) That cracked me up!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2014-06-02 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
My biggest fear is that it won't make any difference, yeah. I'm actually...kind of okay? with the idea that I might have to eat even stricter than I used to, and for the rest of my life, if it will just get better.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2014-06-02 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
it's like they want you to just give up all interest in food and not have the desire to eat anything, thus solving the problem.

HA HA HA HA HA! That's pretty much my thoughts on it right now, too.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2014-06-02 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yeah. I read their blog for years!

[identity profile] zitronenhai.livejournal.com 2014-06-02 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
So, the reason for the puree is to aid digestion?

[identity profile] zitronenhai.livejournal.com 2014-06-02 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope it does work! You are due for a solution!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2014-06-02 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Giving my guts time to chill and not worry about working so hard until things calm down. That's the theory, anyway.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2014-06-03 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Oh duh! Whole9.. haha, I missed that.

Do you cook your veggies prior to puree?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2014-06-03 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Yep. I cook them so much they almost don't need pureeing.

Ugh.

Oh, and everything's peeled or seeded, too.

BLEH.

[identity profile] kazoogrrl.livejournal.com 2014-06-03 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
This just made me think of Ryan Gosling not eating his cereal

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2014-06-03 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
I love that meme.

[identity profile] kazoogrrl.livejournal.com 2014-06-03 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
The one where he pulls the scarf across his mouth!

You know, I'm not sure I've ever seen one of his films.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2014-06-03 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
He's a freaking amazing actor. AND pretty! =D

[identity profile] kazoogrrl.livejournal.com 2014-06-03 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Noted!
