Is it really only Tuesday?

1. My hair is really, really short again. I feel like the back of my head is naked.
2. I am jonesing for India Palace lunch buffet. But only if they have Chicken Tikka Masala and Gulab Jamun.
3. The water in Wescoe is back on, but the stuff coming out of the tap is opaque white and the stuff coming out of the water fountains is dingy brown.
4. My presence in the office today is completely unnecessary.
5. I need to spend money today and I hate to do it since [livejournal.com profile] 0verdrive just had to have the brakes on the Maxima fixed.

EDIT: I thought I'd throw this in here. Yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] kijjohnson made an entry about lying to oneself. How frustrating it is when you find someone has lied to you about something so incredibly petty, it hardly seems worth the effort to lie. This whole scenario just finished playing out a couple minutes ago. A friend of mine's wife came in this morning and asked if he made it to CotK this weekend. I said no, but I wasn't really surprised and she said that was too bad, their basement had flooded on Saturday and they were dealing with that but she wasn't sure if he ever made it out to either show. OK, whatever. Then husband just came in and said he was sorry he didn't make it to the show because they went to Missouri this weekend. I let him go on for a minute and asked, you and your wife went? He confirmed, and I said that was very strange because the wife had been in that morning and asked if he'd made it to any of the shows. He paused a minute, said that Oh, that must be because she was thinking about it, too, and left my office. WTF? I mean seriously. What. The. Fuck.

So I was trying to decide what I wanted for lunch, and after reading this, I'm not sure anything will do but Chicken Tikka Masala. Curses!

That was a completely pointless lie. We're adults, you're not a child - I think you'd understand if people had prior plans.

I find petty, social lies to be completely annoying.

I refuse to engage in it myself.

All either of them fucking had to say was "sorry, we didn't manage to make it for one of your shows". Period.

That is a pointless lie. They didn't even need to go beyond "Sorry we didn't make it out."

I would have gone, of course, except I was abducted by aliens....

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2004-07-27 10:46 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry 'bout that. I try to avoid feeding other people's cravings, but sometimes it just happens.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2004-07-27 10:48 am (UTC)(link)
Or even if they just didn't want to come! I would have been fine with that. I understand that bellydance isn't everyone's thing. But lying about it just makes the situation insulting.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2004-07-27 10:51 am (UTC)(link)
Or just not bring it up at all! I mean jezus. It wasn't like I was raging around the office, asking why people didn't come to the show. My ego isn't quite that fragile, thanks.

[identity profile] next-bold-move.livejournal.com 2004-07-27 10:51 am (UTC)(link)
S'all right. I might just be able to talk the husband into something like that for dinner. And that makes you the hero of my story. :)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2004-07-27 10:52 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! Hon, you have a kid. I hardly expect you to make it out to anything that lasts longer than 15 minutes.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/kai_/ 2004-07-27 11:31 am (UTC)(link)
Totally ridiculous.

Besides, if you're married partnered to someone, and you're going to lie about something, you have to go to the effort of coordinating you lies. Geez. Didn't they read "Tips for Liars - 2"?

I didn't go. Should I say I'm sorry?

I didn't even mark it in my non-existent Palm (broken), and had other plans. Does that make me more or less of a heel than the liars?

(But it sounds like it was a good show and that all of you were absolutely stunning, which is very good to hear. Did you finish the skirt with all the little mirrors on it?)

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/kai_/ 2004-07-27 11:32 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yeah, getting hair cut so short that you almost feel bald is a great feeling. One I can maintain for about a day and a half.

[identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com 2004-07-27 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Or just plain weird. I mean, huh? I can't even figure out who was lying about what... could it be one of them left town with some perky young thang and didn't want the other to know about it, hence the differing stories?

Weird.

Chris

No. I'm betting the wife gave me the honest story. Then hubbie thought he needed to feed me a line b/c he didn't come to the show.

[identity profile] cherryjane.livejournal.com 2004-07-27 01:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Precisely. *Sigh* Are you planning to say anything?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2004-07-27 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope. What's the point, really? I figure he knows he got caught out (as I mentioned to someone else, gut instinct is telling me the wife was being honest). He can squirm or not, as he wishes. I'll be moving on. =/

[identity profile] dvicci.livejournal.com 2004-07-27 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I would have thought the wife the liar in this instance... why would the husband say they went to Missouri (clearly a trip by choice), while the wife say they had to clean the basement after a flood (clearly a necessity). If he was going to make up a story that indicated they *couldn't* go, rather than they *wouldn't* go, wouldn't his have been the story of necessity? Just a thought... the gut never lies, though, it's just a matter of getting through the layers of motivation and issues to hear what it's really saying (clever, eh, how I eased in kijjohnson's post?).

Me? I didn't go. Didn't feel like making the drive. Honest.

[identity profile] cherryjane.livejournal.com 2004-07-27 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Gotcha. Well, I hope they know and feel stupid about the situation and learn from it.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2004-07-28 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
1) The wife is a reliable, honest person. While I'm good friends with husband, I trust him about as far as I can throw him.

2) There was a LOT of flooding in Lawrence this weekend.

3) No problem about you not coming in. =)

Maybe he went to Missouri with wife #2 and wife #1 was cleaning out basement
