How can I incorporate this concept into my daily wear wardrobe. Yes, I am entirely serious.

Work bullshit has escalated to a ridiculous degree, so not a lot of time to be on here today.

Yesterday got away from me and I completely lost track of time. I will be posting (and backdating) my Intentional Movement Report at some point this week, along with the detailed pose sequences. I'll let you know when that goes up.

Chris uses these when dressing up, learned from his time in the USMC. ;) Not that you'd need such long ones, but the link might lead to another site that has what you're really looking for. :)

Oh, I've got the garter clips! I just need to figure out a way to incorporate the concept in a way that doesn't look half-finished (like, IMO, that model does in the photo).

Yeah, because the shirt is loose and flowy, so the top of the garter part flops around every time she moves.

What's the goal? To make a shirt with the garters attached so you don't have to wear the garter belt if you don't want to? Is it the look? Because these are both good goals, but I would go about them in different ways.

Definitely going for the look. No function necessary. I AM ALL EARS for your suggestions.

First thought that comes to mind is a princess-seamed tailored shirt, and attaching the top part of the strap, hmm, a couple inches up from the hem (on the inside). I think the princess seaming would make it stay in the same place on your body a little better, and attaching the strap into the shirt would stop it from pulling weirdly on the hem.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-03-02 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool! That at least helps with logistics. Although right now I'm only wearing knits, which means princess seams aren't really a thing in my wardrobe at the mo'.

I'm mostly trying to figure how to make the shirt look like a proper and complete garment with leggings so it doesn't look like I just forgot to put on pants.

Oh, actually, I think I might have just figured it out by typing that. Use them in an under layer. Attach the garter straps to the bottom of a long camisole and have them holding up leggings (this would be a great way to use too-small leggings--just cut the top part off) and then over the top of all wear a crochet or fishnet-weave oversized sweater/top. Hmmm.

That would be a good look!

The execution is difficult. I'm trying to figure it out myself - I'm not cool with showing much skin, and it would be inappropriate at my job, but I want the concept, badly.

I am alternately loving and cursing you for posting that image. I thought I was doing well with my visible garter clips on my tights, but this takes it to a new level and I need it.

If I figure it out, I'll let you know.

Edit: just figured it out while I was typing a reply to [livejournal.com profile] sherwood21, above. Here it is! Use them in an under layer. Attach the garter straps to the bottom of a long camisole (or a shirt if you wear something other than knits, which I don't) and have them holding up leggings worn over colored tights (this would be a great way to use too-small leggings--just cut the panty off) and then over the top of all wear a crochet or fishnet-weave oversized sweater/top.

Ha! I was trying to think of my own variation as well. I have beigy tights and thick knitted thigh-high stockings - I was thinking of both of those layers worn with a short black skirt and a long shirt with a short vest over it. eta: I can use my hardly-ever used black garter belt as well.

It's a lot of layering, but I think I can make it work. I'm going to try. Let's post our results! *high five*

I read the comments, and I hope you can figure a way to work that look out. I like it!

Thanks! I hope so, too!

I'm trying to work it out.. but I just don't think it works with boobs, hahah! I can only see/imagine it pulling on the shirt too much.

I want those super thick cotton stockings that a French gal who stayed with me a few years ago owned. They were awesome.

It's really too bad that Sockdreams stuff is too scratchy for you. Sadness!

Ach, I KNOW. I had such high hopes. Maybe I just got the wrong ones. I'm willing to try more if someone knows of some lovely soft models.
