Unintentional Paleo Beef Stroganoff

So this just happened.

Unintentional Paleo Beef Stroganoff
1 onion, diced
1 lb ground beef
2 head cabbage
1-1.5 lb celery root
avocado oil
roasted garlic powder
1 t Tsardust Memories
1/2 c mayonnaise

Follow directions for roasted garlic cabbage. While roasting, saute onion in coconut oil until golden. Add beef and brown. Chop up and include the ends of the cabbage or whatever didn't fit on the baking sheet. Cook down until translucent.

Peel and chop celery root into 1" cubes. Boil in a saucepan until fork-tender. Mash with stand mixer, hand mixer, whatever.

When cabbage is roasted, remove from oven to cutting board. Slice once lengthwise to make noodle-things. Add to meat mixture. Add mashed celery root. Stir in Tsardust seasoning. Mix well. Add mayo. Salt and pepper to taste.

All right, I am making this just as soon as I can get my hands on that spice mix!

You've mentioned that site a few times and now I want to buy one of everything I see on it.

If you were not aware, there's a store in Kansas City. They have jars of all the spices so you can sniff-test them. We have to go every few months to pick up curry spices for the Brit. :D We've never tried the Tsardust Memories though, I'll have to snag some next time we go up.

Tragically, [livejournal.com profile] write_out is on the east coast. But I echo her encouragement to find a local store. It's an amazing experience and a great way to figure out which of the blends you might want. I try to go to the brick-and-mortar one in KC once a year, and the rest of the time I'm happy to mail order.

Unfortunately, there are no stores here in Maine. I wish! Looks like there is one in MA though. I just spent some time drooling over the many different spices available online.

I record all my particularly successful cooking experiments here so I can replicate them later. =D

It looks great. Celery Root is one of the delicious overlooked vegetables.

Yay for vegetable sales! That always encourages me to try new things. This was my first time with celery root.

Germans use it to make celery soup, which is incredibly delicious.

Mmmm. I've had a jar of Tsardust for a while, but hadn't found anything to really use it on. I'll try it this-a-way, thanks! (somewhat related - it took me forever to figure out the Chinese 5-spice powder, too, but now use it often. So there is hope.) ;)

I want to eat this! Can you just mail me dinner every night?!
