Bruises

This is how the bruises from our sparring session looked, seven hours post-fight:


Already purple, wtf. While impressive, that does not bode well for longevity. I will be highly annoyed if they're gone to yellow by the time I don the Moran costume on Saturday.

If I'd known how fast these would come up, I would have had the sparring session Wednesday night. I'm concerned if we try to do this again before they heal, though, we'll bruise the muscles and that would suck. My arms are sore enough as is.

And I wish I'd thought to get video of our session because it was fucking hilarious.

Thanks! I am pretty fierce. Goofy and a serious nerd, sure, but also FIERCE! Also I was concentrating pretty intensely on flexing as hard as I could. =D

Well, but I'm serious about not wanting to bruise the muscle. I think we came pretty close as it is. I don't want to actually injure myself...

Well, I didn't mean really hard, but to sort of keep them "freshened up". I had a sub used to do that.

Or hey! What if you sort of spackled a rag/washcloth with indigo and rubbed it on the surface? You could try it out on your thigh.

Then again, there's a chance it'll get darker in the next couple days, too! :hoping for you:

If the bruises fade, what about some bandages? You could tape up your knuckles like they're busted up from brawling - even dab a little reddish-brown dye on it. Or a bandage on your forearm covering up a pretend knife wound.

Oh man! I wish I hadn't bought those bad-ass fingerless gloves, because bloody bandages on my knuckles would've been BRILLIANT!

Might use that knife wound idea even if the bruises still look great. Fab idea, thank you, bb!

Ooo! You could try putting a couple butterfly bandages over one of your eyebrows, to look like they're holding a minor laceration together. I don't know what the comfort level on that would be like, but it's a pretty easy visual trick, because no one would see a cut that was under your eyebrow anyway.
