Friends of the Lawrence Public Library Fall 2004 Book Sale
In the tent at 7th & Kentucky

Member's Night: Thursday, September 30, 5pm to 9pm
Friday, October 1, 10am to 8pm
Saturday, October 2, 10am to 6pm
Sunday, October 3, 1pm to 6pm Half Price Day!
Tuesday, October 5, 5pm to 8pm $7 Bag Night!
Thursday, October 7, 5pm to 8pm $5 Bag Night!
Saturday, October 9, 10am to 4pm Giveaway Day!

Warning--do not attempt to fight with the Mennonite women for the cookbooks unless you have comrades-in-arms. Seriously. Those women hunt in packs, they mean business, and they will use aggressive shopping techniques against you.

Yeah, but the last few years, they haven't put anything *good* out in the later days. I've typically been happiest with the first non-member day and the first bag day.

I don't ever look at the cookbook section, but it sounds like my kind of shopping!

It's crazy! They freaking line up in a big, well, line. And, as a group, will shift to the left or the right to block anyone who tries to reach between them. I am not making this up. I've experienced it firsthand.

They look so benign in their little caped dresses and white bonnets but don't let it fool you for a second. They're vicious. Vicious I tell you.

I don't know that many Mennonites are vegetarian. At least not according to the Mennonite cookbook I have. They might be peaceful, but they like them some meat for dinner.

Huh. Perhaps you need to go in a pack of your own. We'll all dress up in our scariest gear and then just force our way into the middle of their line, then push them out to each side. Heh. I'm gettin' a grin just thinking about it.
