Please hold back the rain
I really hope it doesn't rain for Media Day tonight. But if it does, I figure I've danced in a downpour. Standing under an umbrella in one should be no problem, right? Sigh. What's especially disappointing is I won't be able to wear the curly wig. Oh life's little tragedies. If only everyone had my problems.
Speaking of dancing: Blue costume for Renfest this year got a trial run at the restaurant. Dancing went fine and I did a cane number at super sonic speed. I was completely wiped out after that. Luckily I did my sword number first. Everyone seems to like the Stupid Human Tricks, I've noticed. I always feel a little guilty at how everyone claps and cheers at my contortionist stuff. That's not talent, folks, that's just freak of nature. But they're crowd-pleasers, so I do them a lot. What I am really proud of is how low I can go down on my back with the sword on my head. From basic Hero Pose, I can lower myself all the way backwards until my shoulders touch the ground, but still keeping my head upright and the sword balanced. And then, of course, come back up without letting my butt stick out or the sword fall. That does require some goddess-given flexibility in the knees and neck, but a lot of it is quad and ab muscles with some damn fine posture control thrown in. I can get a little lower every time, it seems. When I can touch the top of my cervical spine to the floor, I will deem the move perfected.

I'm starting to think most of the various Friday Five groups are on the west coast. I mean, it's halfway through the morning on the east coast and two of the three groups don't have questions up yet. The one that does is about the Olympics and sports. I didn't watch a single second of the Olympics this year (except what I glanced up at during the Aladdin gig last night) and I think most people know my lack of interest in sports. So probably no 5 questions for me this morning.
Whooop! Look at that, I take a minute to edit the paragraph about the dance gig and someone put up their questions. From
thefridayfive:
1. It the election were tomorrow, who would you vote for? Kerry. Sigh. Why do leftwingers always have to announce their choice of candidate with a small amount of resignation? It sucks.
2. What are the main things that lead you to vote for a certain person? A lack of assholeness if I can find someone without that quality. Failing that (which is often), I usually vote for the liberal.
3. Where do you get your info on the candidates? NPR, Moveon.Org, ActForChange, sometimes Time or Newsweek if my parents send me an article.
4. Who was president when you were born? Nixon
5. If you could choose anyone, dead or alive, to be president, who would it be? I think Theodore Roosevelt might be a good option for a re-return to the white house. He didn't take shit from people, he was an excellent diplomat, and he had a soft spot for the environment. Although he was a proponent of U.S. activity in world affairs, he managed to not piss people off when he involved our country in foreign affairs.
The lightning fingers sound cool, but the throne might be a bit uncomfy.

Most unpleasant. But hopefully crappy weather this weekend will allow us quality weather for opening.
I can dream, can't I?

Do you have a back-up headscarf for wet weather?
IIRC, those Indian sequin scarves leak color like crazy in the wet.

Is this "media day" open for people to watch? Where? When? Call us?

I heard from a little birdie that you would be coming in from Lawrence to faire.. since my hubby has little or no desire to get up that early (add to the fact that he won't be on a performer's pass) is there a possibility that I could hitch a ride with you in the mornings (just Saturday and Sunday)?
I'll be staying with
