I'm just gonna stop pretending this is anything but a Guardian-related space anymore. Why try, seriously. I'm not even tracking my health stuff much anymore since things seem to have evened out somewhat.

Someone (I'm sorry, I don't remember who, or even in who's post) recommended Voice of the Heart to me. It's a Zhu Jiu and Ye Zun fic--not slashy--and does a fantastic job of developing both characters, but especially Zhu Jiu. Creates a nice head canon as to why Zhu Jiu is so powerful, too.

Can someone please direct me to an image of the hanzi for the "worth it" line? I wanna carve a stamp for it and I don't want to rely on the subtitle on the screenshot, just in case.

The rec was me! It's such a wonderful fic. I wish we could've had more of Zhu Jiu's devotion to his boss, it was kinda cute.

I'm not an expert but I just came across it in a Zhao Yunlan line. :)
Better wait and see if someone confirms, though.

That's funny; Shen Wei | 沈巍 is correct in that tumblr post but Zhao Yunlan | 赵云澜 is not! I wonder where they got those characters from.

Well damn I'm glad I said something before I spent the time carving them! And yikes, I definitely don't have anything large enough to carve ZYL's name so that's not gonna work. Can you tell me if solo is correct with the 值 for Worth It?

I know right! I mean, maybe the image got cropped so "lan" was missing for some reason? But why would they have used the wrong "zhao" character? So odd!

值 could be literally translated as "worth," but I think it's more like "the actual worth that something has," as opposed to "being worthy" or "being deserving." Shen Wei says 值得, to echo what Zhao Yunlan says when he says he's not worth it.

云澜 might be do-able. There's A LOT going on in that second character in such a small space tho. It's been a while since I carved anything so I might have to work up to that one. =D

If you want to do that I recommend looking at how to do the stroke order - it might help with getting it looking right? And it's just quite generally helpful to see how characters fit together:

The first character is the traditional for Zhao Yunlan's surname, but they left out the final character and didn't correct the middle character to the correct traditional form. (云 did mean something already, but "cloud" used to be written as 雲.) I don't know whether the novel was written in traditional or simpliefied, but 趙雲瀾 is equivalent to 赵云澜. (趙雲 | 赵云 was a general in Romance of the Three Kingdoms, so it would come up on autocomplete?)

Shen Wei says, "值得" (zhi de), which is literally "worth it" or "deserve," so those are the characters you're looking for.

If it's of interest, though, in the context of the conversation, Shen Wei's repetition of what Zhao Yunlan just negated ("I'm not worth what you're doing for me" or "I don't deserve what you're doing for me," followed by Shen Wei saying "worth it" or "deserve") would be more appropriately translated to English as a straightforward confirmation:

"I'm not worth what you're doing for me."
"Yes you are."

His replying "Worth it" is just...sigh so much more romantic than "Yes you are." *hearteyes*
