I arted yesterday
It's not quite where I want it to be, but at least I didn't carve half of a character backwards!
If anyone wants this one, I'm offering it free to a good home, postage paid to domestic U.S. addresses. IMO it's not worth the cost of international postage, but if you feel differently and want to shoot me some $$$ to cover international postage, that's cool. Bonus, you get the fucked-up one on the other side! I can carve an X through the bad side so you don't accidentally use it--just let me know.
My feelings will not be hurt if nobody wants this--I'm not even interested in keeping it for myself, after all. Thought I'd see if anyone wants the practice piece before I trash it, though.
For any potential orders, a stamp with this level of detailed hanzi and clean-up will be $15USD. $20 if you want cleaner lines and fewer smudgy bits (I prefer a bit of messiness in my art, but I know not everybody likes That Rustic Look).
I also decorated this Republic of Tea canister:
It did not photograph well--non-flat things are tricky that way.
Don't know if I want to fill in the blank space on the back or leave it so I can write the contents of the container on it, if I decide to refill it with tea. Which I might. It's certainly more fun to look at than the usual tea label. Maybe I'll decorate all my canisters like this...not necessarily all Guardian, maybe. Might be fun to do them for the ~mood~ of the tea. Weilan seems very Ginger Peach, no?
The canister only took me about an hour, much quicker than even a small flat piece. I wasn't able to do a lot of my usual stuff--didn't want to attempt airbrushing over a 3D surface (yet), and rubber stamps aren't really feasible (although I did try a large, unmounted one on the back with marginal success), but it was fast and rewarding and a break from writing.
