OK, yeah, really sick now

Although the quiz says:
I am Rabies. Grrrrrrrr!
Which Horrible Affliction are you?
A Rum and Monkey disease.

I'm pretty sure what I actually have is tonsilitis. At 8:36 this evening I self-diagnosed the illness thanks to telltale white patches on my tonsils. So off to the doctor I shall go tomorrow to be chastised about being such a pussy about getting them out already. I do not want to have that surgery. Sob! So it looks like a round of antibiotics for me and hope like hell I'm back on my feet for the weekend.

My sincere and deepest apologies to anyone I might have, er, infected at the cast party.

That's... rather ironic.

White spots is strep throat.

I love flowcharts: http://www.luc.edu/wellness/selfcare/sorethroats.htm

Yes! go ask the Medico what you have, then take their advice.

One of the milder possibilities is tons of dust -> sinus drainage -> white spots.

But why guess? You have the service, go get checked out. Rah Rah microbiology and lab tests!

Besides, it is my opinion that kisses from you would be worth the side-effects. Yes! That is my strong opinion.

If you want herbal advice once you have the problem identified, just ping me. I think I still have some immune Boosting herbal tea.. how apropos that you have to sip it... this makes for the double whammy of it being a Topical AND Internal medicine.

Well there was a reason I didn't get in the "kiss the Spanish" line! I really wanted to, and thought about it on the way home. Can I get a rain check for when you're better?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2004-10-13 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Rain check--check! LOL! Sure thing.

[identity profile] thedarkbear.livejournal.com 2004-10-12 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Even if that is a side effect I may have to deal with, I'd say it was still well worth it.

[identity profile] angelbedwell.livejournal.com 2004-10-13 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
Yep. Absolutely worth it ;)

mmmm....

No problem sweetheart. It's so very true!

Glad you are seeing the pros, hope any meds kick in fast. This is great weather to stay home, snuggled in warm, sipping hot liquids.

White spots = strep. I had it about a month ago.

On the other hand, you should be just fine (in terms of not being contagious) for the final weekend of the RenFest if you start antibiotics in the next day or two. :)

Whenever I had white spots, it was Strep Throat. Mine was Type G. Took two... maybe three months to finally get it properly diagnosed. During that time, I had three recurrances. The antibiotics they gave me didn't do a damn thing... the strep just faded on it's own. I know this b/c when they finally diagnosed it properly, the antibiotics kicked it's ass in a matter of hours. Until then, it really really really sucked. There's no pain like that. Just ask Mel. The doc said that removal of the tonsils would help alleviate it and prevent future bouts, but it was a last resort for me at my (our) age.

[identity profile] stuology.livejournal.com 2004-10-13 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
Yup, white spots typically mean it's strep. I had strep all the time when I was a kid until I had my tonsils taken out. I've never had it again since then, even being around Veatch when he had it.

I was lucky that I had it done when I was 5, so I don't remember much about it. My mother said it wasn't pleasant, but if this reoccurs for you often enough, it would be worth the two weeks (which is how long my mother said it took for me to be able to eat and talk normally) of unpleasantness to never have strep again.

At least you'll get lots of ice cream. They might not take your tonsils though - I've had tonsilitis five times and I still have mine.

I also had rabies though. Sigh, we're a rabid bunch.

Check your diagnosis here too: http://www.obeythefist.com/diseases/index.php

Yuck, sorry to hear it's gotten worse and become something. Well, actually, that's good: A diagnosed something is treatable!

Get well soon (says the un-insured guy who's pleased not to have gotten a kiss).

Chris
