I probably shouldn't go in there with a pointer to a 450.000 word story that has about 9 sex scenes that are all quite different. *g* (This is probably only funny in my head but the idea of multiple sex scenes being rare cracked me up a little!)

Honestly, I can't see it - he's the type who goes still, not the type who displaces his anxiety into fidgeting or nail-bition or whatever. I could see Zhao Yunlan biting his nails far more easily than I could Shen Wei.

And also: he has such beautiful hands that are very visibly perfectly-kept in canon even at the end when he was under a ton of stress, so I just can't see it. Hands of people who bite their nails are noticeably not pretty like that, even during times when they haven't been actively doing it for weeks. (My father is a habitual nail biter to this day, and I used to bite mine out of boredom back when I was a teen, so: personal experience!)

I mean, except for that shot right at the start--the famous finger-tip pressing the corner pages of the book. Oh!!! Wait, I've got it. He stopped biting his nails when he found Kunlun again and they just hadn't had time to grow back out yet when we saw that. Of course!!! XD

Alternatively, that was an aberration from the shock of seeing Kunlun again, reverting back to when he knew him, but after that he is more careful, he has appearances to be keeping up!

I don't know which I like more, but I love that you pointed it out for the headcanon purposes. Anything that makes Shen Wei that much more (reluctantly) human is so much fun to contemplate...

Re: Shen Wei biting his nails: I wouldn't wonder if for him it's an old habit that he worked to break so it only comes out in times of serious stress. Given that when/how he grew up, he almost definitely bit them out of necessity, as clippers wouldn't be invented for 10k years and as a kid he might not even have had a knife, so unless he has a nail-growth power...
