I call foul

After being on the mend for almost a week and a half, I woke up this morning with a pounding sinus headache and my throat feeling like someone scrubbed it out with a toilet brush.

So

Not

Fair

I have plans for this evening. I do not want to reschedule. Bugger.

Will be pouring down mass quantities of echinacea tea all day. [livejournal.com profile] 0verdrive, where's that Vitamin C you were talking about?

Ack!

That sucks. :/ BUT they can rebuild you! Faster! Stronger! They have the drugs! :)

Here's hoping you feel better.

[identity profile] thebruce.livejournal.com 2004-10-27 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
Emergen-C. You can get it at any drugstore or Wal-Mart.

I ordered "Xlear" and some other Xylitol products off the Internet at http://www.xlear.com and they seem to help.

To get some immediate relief from sinus pressure and post-nasal drip associated with it, Afrin has always worked for me, though it is a bad idea to over-use it. I use the "extra moisturizing" variety as it tends to over-dry the sinuses on me. YMMV. Susi swears by Claritin. Hope this helps, and get well soon! We love living vicariously thru your adventures :)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2004-10-27 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
I've been using the Xlear religiously. I'll give the Emergen-C a try. I'm so pissed off at my crappy immune system I could just spit.

I hope I will be well enough this weekend to have adventures to relate. Fetish night is Saturday, dammit!!! Augh!

[identity profile] rougewench.livejournal.com 2004-10-27 07:29 am (UTC)(link)
Along with the Emergen-C, drop another 4000-5000 mg of C in tablet form as you drink the drink. When one is ill, one's need for C rises dramatically. Take yourself literally to bowel tolerance (which in [livejournal.com profile] digibri was somewhere around 15 grams of C in a day.

It will make a difference.

One would imagine it was the living life like a 20 year old over the weekend that kicked your ass. You were not fully ready for it, as you were 7 weeks exhausted (I know where you are at as I'm not remotely over mine and frankly the muscle relaxants and painkillers are not helping me on the immune system front.

Take care of yourself,

D.

Who, me? *blinks innocently*

Thanks for the info on the extra Vitamin C. I'll get on that asap. Hugs.

You know me, I'm all about "go ahead, you know you want to"...one must, however, be ready for the appropriate consequences of such actions.

You'll be in shape to party it up again this weekend...but you'll also be a mess on Monday...with a smile on your face.

does that mean no lunch?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2004-10-27 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
I'm ok for lunch. Just don't expect my usual level of witty banter. =)

something that always helps when i start feeling The Crud trying to attack:
brown miso with lots of finely chopped garlic and as much cayenne as you can stand in it!

a complete aside...i notice several faire looking folks amongst our friends...this after several of the new folks i've met here have been faire-oriented...i think the universe is trying to tell me sumthin...used to work the tuxedo, ny faire, bu didn't this year.

[identity profile] grnvixen.livejournal.com 2004-10-27 08:41 am (UTC)(link)
My crud is still hanging on too, but thank goodness, no sinues headaches, yet. Dr's appt this afternoon! And hang in there with the immune system; keep getting your thyroid checked! It could be the increase in activity with faire bumped your metabolism up a bit so you might be low. Hope the tea helps, also try and get some sleep, pleasant dreams of lots of dark chocolate :) :) :).

That Blows.

I second the Emergen - C, garlic, cayanne theory. As for plans this evening - we may have hit an unfortunate snag. I'm not cancelling as of yet - I'll keep you posted.

Your mother was a hampster and your father smelt of elderberry...

What the very insulting man in Monty Python and the Holy Grail was implying was that the father was diseased.

The British and many others used Elderberry (Sambucus canadensis, Sambucus nigra) products as a fairly effective cure-all.
In the 17th century the British often drank home made wine and cordials that was thought to prolong life and cure the common cold.

The berries from the elder contain a considerable amount of vitamins A, B and C, as well as flavonoids, sugar, tannins, carotenoids and amino acids. Warm elderberry wine is a remedy for sore throat, influenza and induces perspiration to reverse the effects of a chill. The juice from the berries is an old fashioned cure for colds, and is also said to relieve asthma and bronchitis.

Since you have a song in your heart that needs to be sung,
and a Saturday night to be filled with fun...
I point you directly at the Elderberry Extract called Sambucol http://www.sambucol.com/

The Merc has it in several formats, and it should help you destroy what is living on you in short order.
It's cheap, too!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2004-10-27 11:39 am (UTC)(link)
Why in the world would I mind if you posted your own info in your journal? Silly boy.

[identity profile] adammaker.livejournal.com 2004-10-27 12:06 pm (UTC)(link)
heh. My head has been on a little off center today.

[identity profile] skyflame.livejournal.com 2004-10-27 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you feeling any better this afternoon?

[identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com 2004-10-27 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, as [livejournal.com profile] rougewench says, living life like a 20 year old will kick one's arse. As will living like a certain other age >g<

I had my big run-down day on Monday; joy, 'cuz I had to teach. Felt tired this morning, but well. Here's some get-well-quick vibes atcha!

Best health wishes,
Chris

[identity profile] adammaker.livejournal.com 2004-10-28 08:31 am (UTC)(link)
But I, as your Driver (odd job?), safely ferried you home.

Now I need to get a cool hat!

[identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com 2004-10-28 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
You, sir, deserve a fine hat! Thank you for letting me just take a break after the teaching. Surprising how much that takes out of a guy.

Chris

And enough sleep, of course.
