The knife scene is so gorgeous and painful. The worst part (for me) is seeing Zhao Yunlan wanting to help, wanting to understand. That deep breath, the innocuous comment about how it must hurt--he's desperately looking for some connection! How Shen Wei's putting him off with some stupid platitude one more time pushes him over the edge. And then poor Shen Wei, you can see him come this close to breaking--how much he wants to tell Zhao Yunlan everything but he's so scared. Scared of messing up the timeline, scared of messing up the whole world. Ugh, this scene is just knives knives knives. Brilliantly written, brilliantly acted. So good.

I feel good today, even though I did spill an entire cup of tea on my couch and rug (and part of my leg) thanks to a wobbly side table. sigh.

Got the basic outline done for Deconstruction! I'm sure I'll still insert stuff (see: fuckin') here and there but I have the main emotional hits plotted out. I realized in the process that it's more about emotional growth (everyone's favorite!) than a narrative of events so of course it's going to look a little different. That made me feel better about the pacing and structure. Feeling directionless with it was, I think, contributing to my malaise. I'm glad to be moving on it again. Also, I think it might wind up being shorter than I anticipated/feared, so that's encouraging, too.
