This showed up in my Amazon Gold Box today:

Portable Ice Cube Maker.

Is it just me or is the concept of paying $400 for something that makes *ice* for godsake just repulsive?

Yah, believe it or not, ice makers ARE damned expensive. Think about the cost of your average refridgerator as a comparison.

The ice machine going belly-up is a bar owners' nightmare.

It's the "portable" part that made me laugh. I was somehow expecting battery-operated so you could tote it to the beach/lake/woods. But apparently not, it still requires grid juice. So much for ice in power outages.

OK, yeah, fine, but why is it in my Amazon Gold Box? I mean, if I was on a restaurant supply website, sure, but geez...

Why couldn't that pink Kitchenaid have popped up?
