In addition to sending me lovely Twitter links,naye put together an incredible resource for educating yourself on racism and racism in fandom. It might look overwhelming, but we all need to do the work. Please go check it out. I'll be working through the ones I haven't yet read over the next week or so.

Even though I'm still struggling with massive sad all the time, I'm dipping back into Twitter. I feel like the small contact with fandom friends is worth it for now. Gonna limit my time on it since I'm highly prioritizing writing, but it's nice. I also want to start reading fic again??? Geez, I haven't even touched anything from the 5/20 exchange, I don't think. Between Deconstruction and the Other Project, I'm putting 8 hours a day into writing on good days, 3 or 4 hours on bad days.

Yesterday was a bad day, unfortunately (with a two hour nap, lord) and the two bad days in a row is kind of a drag. Might be going for three in a row, hard to tell. I'm very tired but the crushing physical fatigue hasn't (yet?) set in. We'll see.

Woke this morning from a long dream (the kind that continues after waking to pee at 4am) where a friend and I were trying to hook up but kept getting thwarted because another friend of ours refused to go to bed (and leave us alone). Friend-with-sex-intentions didn't want other friend to know we were banging (understandably for Dream Reasons) so it was this painful parade of longing glances and glancing touches between us. When I woke up, my lips ached for how much they miss kissing.

In less Emo News, we finished watching the (currently released) John Wick movies and I have Feelings about them and how they are actually a gorgeously violent Urban Fantasy with some of the best portrayals of Fae and Fae rules I've seen in media since probably Nomads (an amazing movie with Pierce Brosnan that got no love when it came out in the late 80s). If anyone wants to talk about that with me, let me know and I'll write up a post about it.

John Wick as Fae UF is SUCH A GOOD TAKE, I'd love to read your writeup! The worldbuilding for those movies was definitely the most interesting part for me, I hope the TV show spinoff has a lot more of it. *g*

Wanting my John Wick meta certainly seems to be A Thing, so I definitely plan to write it up. I'm a little worried about the show because one of the things I love about the movies are their production values and honestly I'm not sure how that's going to carry over onto a show (unless they fund it similarly to Game of Thrones or something).

Good point RE production value, I don't know if the TV show will hold up. But I'd be OK with slightly less opulent sets if they flesh out the world more.

Seems like it's airing on Starz, and I'm kind of imagining an American Gods vibe? Sort of? Although they also had an enormous budget...

It took me a few years to get to it (I didn't realized a CERTAIN CRUCIAL PLOT POINT was actually INTEGRAL TO THE MYTHOS) but once I did, whew! Watched all three movies in three days and am eagerly awaiting the (delayed) 4th.

Western looks = good

I'm pretty sure he does not question any of these. And that's only judging from the kinds of ads he accepts.

(Same for BY, btw, who I think is slightly more woke to systemic inequality, but often makes thoughtless comments about weight, and is currently doing those infernal nestle ads. /o\)

Not that I think it would be easy to question these things for someone in the entertainment industry. (Have I mentioned how much I love Jameela Jamil?)
