Spotify folks: I've been using a free account and just discovered that none of my playlists or liked songs transfer over to a new device (despite the fact that I can access them on my phone?). If someone has suggestions on how I can get all that from my old laptop to this new one I'd be ever so grateful.

Speaking of, the new laptop and I are...adjusting. I don't like the keyboard as much, but I hope it's something I'll get used to. I like the backlit keyboard very much but they keys are smaller and I don't know how many times I've hit enter instead of an apostrophe. I actively dislike the placement of the touchpad and my right wrist is starting to ache from using it so I need to find a way to rectify that. The screen is amazeballs.

RE: Spotify, if you had local files you'll have to transfer them over to the new device and include their filepath. I had that issue too, especially between my work device and my personal, so I posted my music files on Dropbox for easy syncing. That may not work if you have a lot of music though.

No local files! Just playlists! That's what's so confusing. The playlists show FINE on my phone. On the new laptop? NOPE! Lets me log into my account but displays no info--no user icon, no playlists, no liked songs, nothing.

Turns out I was just in offline mode. Whew!

Troubleshooting is difficult remotely, so check all these things. I also don't know what you are trying to log into. You can do web or the Windows client app.

1) Super make sure you are logging into the same account as the others.
2) Make sure the client isn't in offline mode. It sounds like it isn't syncing data. If you aren't in offline mode, try putting it in offline mode for about 5-10 minutes and then turn it back on to online mode to force it to sync.
3) Make sure in an effort to clean up this laptop, Spotify traffic isn't being blocked so it can't sync. Although, I would think if there were firewall blocking, you wouldn't be able to log in either and you would get appropriate error messages. I don't know what McKitterick did to this laptop.

I watched the first two eps of Lost Tomb (and god knows I won't remember the other name anytime soon). It seems interesting and fun, but I kept getting lost because there were so many close up shots of his fucking glorious face and eyes and I just forgot read. I'd be like *chin hands/stars in eyes* oh wait, what just happened? And I was really trying! He's just too lovely. :D

How's the computer keyboard situation? Do you have to use it with the touchpad or can you use a mouse instead? For most laptops you can turn the touchpad off for exactly the reason of accidental touches being annoying...

Keyboard and I are still getting used to each other. I would LOVE to use a mouse, but I do all my computer work on the couch* with a lapdesk and it's not big enough to hold a mouse. McKitterick offered to get me a larger lapdesk, but I have enough of a time dealing with getting this one on and off me.

* Not ideal, but 1) the seated worksurface in my studio is at a height for sewing and terrible for computering and 2) Miette suffers mightily when she cannot spend at least the first four hours of the day plastered to my thigh as I write/live my life on the internet.

Your comment reminded me I hadn't turned down the touchpad sensitivity so now it's at the lowest option. We'll see how that goes!
