This is actually a request 😊 Sometime this morning around two god damned thirty when I woke up for No Reason and couldn't fall back asleep, someone I follow retweeted some Meng Yao meta. I can't even tell you for sure what it was about (because two god damned thirty), but it was four or five tweets long and I remember the op mentions the flashback scene with bb!Meng Yao and his mom and the hat. If you saw that, can you send me a link, please?

Been pondering that plot bunny and for the first time, I am torn on whether I want to write this story from Shen Wei or Zhao Yunlan's POV. They're both Highly Compelling and Appealing to me. Shen Wei's shyness and hesitation and feeling So Nervous In This Beautiful Man's Arms would be delicious to write but Zhao Yunlan having to push down his raging libido the whole time Because Professionalism is also incredibly tempting. Argh! Usually the story I want to tell demands a particular POV, but this one I can see working really well either way and either side being equally fun to write. I'm leaning toward Shen Wei POV because he's kinda my default and this will be the first one-shot AU I've done.I feel like relying on my known strengths with something new is not the worst idea. Also I miss being the follow in partner dancing oh god oh god it's been over a decade since I did anything but lead swing. And while that's better than nothing, there's just something so delicious about the way a good lead just puts you where they want you and the... idk, I guess it's a sort of... submissive? pleasure of letting your trust in them move you gracefully across the floor in a beautiful pattern of turns and curves and ... oh ok yeah, definitely going with Shen Wei POV I guess. 😆

The same user (same day) gave me another bunny, but I need a plot to hang it on. It would work really well for one of those Mafia AUs but I'm not in a good enough mood to write something that grim anytime soon.

I *love* the sound of the dancing AU! My mind has instantly gone to tango because mmmffff, but maybe that wouldn't be the best starter dance for Shen Wei to learn. 😂

omigod, look at the way they fail, and then sort of succeed, at holding hands after the lollipop thing, I never noticed that before. Get a room, you guys.

My first thought about your POV issue was some kind of alternating POV thing linked to the actual moves of the dance, but I'm not sure how that would work in practice and it sounds like you have an excellent solution!

I thought about alternating pov, too, but honestly I don't care for them as a rule, even to read. It'd have to be a narrative issue that couldn't be solved any other way I can definitely see an angle on this particular AU that would require it, but that's a bit more work than I've got the spoons for rn. I'd like to see what somebody else might do with it.

It is. Which is weird, because me!=submissive, but I can definitely second that this is one of the best things about dancing.
